New Year's Greetings!

It is hard to believe the New Year is only hours away.  I look back over the past year and am amazed at all that happened.  It passed by so quickly--but so slowly all at once. 

May God bless you with peace, joy, laughter and give you wisdom beyond your own when you need it most.  God is so good.

I adore Valentine's Day postcards.  The artists of old had a beautiful way of illustrating the whimsical feeling of that tradition.

Though Valentine's Day makes me sad sometimes--my Beloved is no longer here--I still love the work of those fabulous vintage artists!

I love this old picture from Christmas past. I posted this back in 2009, so it has been awhile.  Can you imagine the fire danger there would have been with those candles on the Christmas tree!  But it is charming all the same.

The angel reminds me of a grown version of the little girl who's face has won so many accolades. As for the two little girls, they're awfully cute--I love their dresses. I'm not sure what expression adorns the elder girl's face, but it seems the little one is either shy, or doesn't want the doll!

It is a beautiful time of year.  I often imagine angels all around this house spreading God's sparkles of joy throughout my home.  I look for them, and when I do--I find them. Even though there is sorrow because I cannot spend this Christmas with my Beloved, I see him in the faces of my children.  He is there in a whispered kiss just before I fall asleep.

I know Christmas is past, but I like to linger in its glow.  If you look closely--you can find hearts in the lovely fine lace and one made of berries. It is my heart's prayer that all of you--though you may be going through hard time, loss and great pain--would sense the love and comfort of our mighty Creator all around you.

I love the soft amber tones of this beautiful vintage postcard.  I especially like the little angel holding the tree, and the tiny face of a child peeking from the upper window of the house.  There's a darling little birdie perched up there, too.  I also noted foot prints in the now--I wonder what, or who made them?

Angels All Around -Postcard Friendship Friday #142

I believe there are angels all around us, ministering to those of us in need.

I posted this beautiful postcard today to thank God for those heavenly beings He is sending to comfort Dad and Mom and our family, as Daddy slips away from us.

Dad is a true hero--though he would say he isn't.  He fought in WW2, miraculously dodging bullets and bombs.  He was eventually captured by the Nazis in the Battle of the Bulge.  Dad marched across France in the dead of winter--he was one of those soldiers who survived that infamous death march. He watched his friends die one by one.  Eventually he was imprisoned at Stalag B in Nazi Germany.  Dad was a prisoner of war.  For nine months, he was tortured, interrogated and lived under appalling conditions before he and his fellow prisoners were rescued.  Of his unit, only three other men survived.

God brought Dad home to America, where he found Mom, fell in love, married and raised a big family. How grateful we are for our precious Daddy.

I loved his mischievous heart, how he enjoyed people.  He could always make them smile.  His family was everything to Dad.  He adored his children and grandchildren.  Mumsie is a writer, author and speaker--He was SO proud of her.  Mom always said Dad was the wind beneath her wings.  We will miss him so much.

Adoring Angels - Sunday Scans

This wonderful unusual card came from a box of old cards given to me by my darling Gramma Gladys.  She has the most fabulous collection of Vintage cards and postcards.  When she moved from Oregon to Washington, she left several boxes of her collection with me.

I had the blessing of seeing her on my recent trip--she is tinier than ever, a winsome little Grannie elf with her beautiful wrinkled face filled with mischief--and that wonderful shock of pure white hair.  She says she can't do a thing with it.  She is an adorable little Grandmother.

Angel Prayers - Pink Saturday

I love this picture--it is one which inspires me.  This  artist is just amazing--oh to be able to draw like THIS!

Yesterday morning I read about Angels in the Psalms, found in the Old Testament of the Bible.  "Praise the Lord, you His angels, you mighty ones who do His bidding, who obey His word.  Praise the Lord, all His heavenly hosts, you His servants who do His will.  Praise the Lord, all His works everywhere in His dominion.  Praise the Lord, Oh my soul."  Psalm 103:20-22

I like the idea of God's angels here on earth doing His will--watching over our children and people who love Him.  I have seen the invisible hands of angels more than once in our travels.  I am so glad God sends them to protect us!

Partying Angels on Rollerskates

I can't remember where I got this one--I think my darling Sissy posted it on her blog awhile back.  I am posting this card in honor of my Friend Louree, who turns a youthful 60 years old today!

I adore these little angel's expressive faces, their roller skates, the tripping angel and the colorful dresses they're wearing.  What a darling card--I LOVE this artist's work!

I wonder about her life and who she might have been. If anyone out there knows, I'd love to hear her story.

SISSY UPDATE: Clytie is still doing well, getting stronger every single day. In fact, one perk is her eyesight has improved! She tells me she's seeing more clearly than she has in years. First Anniversary--a Humdinger

I just love this card! It was a gift from my darling Sissy, who's glorious card collection is incredibly wonderful and extensive.

This card actually doesn't have anything about a humdinger in it, only that with those cuties on the bell dinger--the name fit somehow.

I remember our first anniversary--we walked beside the thrashing sea, held hands, and looked deeply into one another's eyes...after 26 years, we still saunter in the sand beside the ocean. We hold hands and smile at one another. Best of all, we often laugh together. I think laughter is the spice that keeps marriage fresh.
