Tis You and You alone

I often think of my one true love.  I miss him so much.  He was a man's man, but he loved me and I loved him.  I wish he could come back just once so I could hug him again.

He was kind, good and strong.  My Beloved.  I love you, Honey.

Postcard Friendship Friday #489

I couldn't find the back for this one--not sure if I remember to scan it in.  I love this postcard because it adds fishing into the mix.

My Beloved taught me to fish.  One of my favorite photos is where he and I are standing together and I am holding up my first catch!

Have a lovely week and Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

The Trysting Place -Postcard Friendship Friday #488

Who doesn't remember young love with all it's thrill and beauty.  My Beloved always remembered Valentine's Day.  He would bring candy and roses--with a rose for each of our daughters.

Today is my Daddy's birthday.  He has been in heaven for seven years now.  My Mom was the love of his life and they were married well over 50 years.  This postcard reminds me of their sweet and precious relationship.  Have a lovely week, sweet Friends.  Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

A Brief Line

I love this beautiful postcard.  There's something so romantic about the way she holds her lover's letter to her heart.

Romance was a beautiful thing back in those days!

Wishing You Much Happiness

I love writing for this blog.  I check it every day where everyone who visits comes from.  It is a wonderful thought that there are people from all across the world who love old cards and postcards just as much as I do.

Valentine's Day is next week--Time is going by SO quickly.  Have a lovely week, sweet Friends.  I wish you all MUCH happiness!

Your Heart is Mine -- my Valentine!

I have always loved Cowboys.  Perhaps it is because my Grandfather was once a cowboy in real life.  He lived in Idaho, and eventually went from cows to sheep.

He passed away before I was born, but it was his joy to know I was on the way.  I wish I could have met him.  He could play any instrument and was once a member of a traveling country Western band.

I'm sure he's in heaven with my Daddy and they are looking down upon me and mine.  Have a wonderful holiday weekend!  What's left of it, that is.

Stand and Deliver Your Heart!

Now this is a masked bandit I would LOVE to meet!  Isn't this cherub the picture of cuteness and determination?

Happy Valentine's Day!  Have a GREAT week!

To my Sweetheart

I adore Valentine's Day postcards.  The artists of old had a beautiful way of illustrating the whimsical feeling of that tradition.

Though Valentine's Day makes me sad sometimes--my Beloved is no longer here--I still love the work of those fabulous vintage artists!

Have a GREAT day, sweet Friends!

To the One I love -Postcard Friendship Friday #439

It is getting close to Valentine's Day already.  It is a little more than a month away.  I used to love that holiday, but it has been a sad one for me since my Beloved flew away to heaven.

This year I am going to do something a little nutty.  I'm keeping the Christmas tree up with its lights--putting away the Christmas ornaments.  I am going to decorate the tree with valentines and hearts, then I'm inviting all my nieces and nephews to come over for the weekend.

We will eat Valentine's Day cake, enjoy some fun games, sing and play instruments and best of all, laugh together.  I think this is the perfect solution for Valentine's Day.  It will become a new tradition.  :D

Happy Valentine's Day and Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

The One I Love -Postcard Friendship Friday #254

I am so sorry to have missed this week's Postcard Friendship Friday.  I was out of town all week long.  Though we had a great time, there were plenty of moments when we shared tears.

I love this beautiful old Valentine's Day Postcard.  They look like they're actually having fun!  And no smart phones, or tablets.

O little girl when you dance with me,
The party is so fine,
My heart keeps time to the way you step
For I am your Valentine.

Have a beautiful, blessed week, my Friends.  Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

It's a Bull's Eye! -Guest Heart Thursday

I have a wonderful collection of  old Valentine cards.  It all started years ago, when I was in my early 20's.  I went to an estate sale in my town and for $1 bought an entire book of old Valentine cards, which were pasted inside.  What a wonderful find!  I also have a large cyber collection of old cards and postcards, like this one.  It is great to have a place to share them.

Does anyone know what kind of flowers those are???  Have a lovely weekend all you heart-lovers!

Morning Glory Heart -Guest Heart Thursday

In Victorian times, flowers were given various meanings.  One could know the nature of a lover's feelings by the bouquet he sent.  The Morning Glory came to symbolize great affection. These beautiful flowers blossom in the morning, but die by nightfall.  Some were convinced they represented the fleeting nature of love.  Yet because the vine produces new flowers every day during its growth season, it also came to represent the renewable aspects of romance and the heart.

In Chinese folklore, the Morning Glory represents a single day for lovers to meet. Here's something else I didn't know--these beautiful blooms also represent the month of September and 11th wedding anniversaries!

Have a wonderful day!  Happy Guest Heart Thursday!

I found this delightful postcard by Fred Lounsbury and fell in love.   This is such an unusual Valentine!  What a wonderful artist.  Since this postcard brought such happiness to my heart, I wanted to share it with all of you.

Have a lovely day!

To My Love -Postcard Friendship Friday #152

I adore the colors in this unusually elegant Valentines Day postcard. The costuming and colors used in that day and age are something I would love to see in today's world.  As far as artwork?  Well, they just don't make 'em like they used to!  Have a beautiful weekend everyone.

Heart for Lunch

I don't know why--but this postcard is disturbing--I can't put my finger on exactly what bothers me about it.  I've never seen one like it before.  Maybe it is that the heart-shaped pots over the flames don't look like they especially like the idea of Cupid's having that heart for lunch.  (grin)

However, I do very much like how the bow and arrow and tree frame the postcard.

Have a great week everyone!  Valentine's Day is less than a month away.

Valentine Greeting -Postcard Friendship Friday #151

I love this young fellow's extraordinary hat and scarf.  The delicate designs surrounding him are entrancing.  I wonder what he is thinking?  What will he write?  Who is his lady-love?  I really like his sweet face.

Happy Postcard Friendship Friday everyone!

Hearts in a Basket -Guest Heart Thursday

I adore the hearts in a basket, along with the lovely maiden and those wonderful blue forgetmenot flowers.  When I was a girl, we would find them growing wild next to where the creek swirled and bubbled.  This lovely postcard seemed perfect for Guest Heart Thursday.

Captured Hearts

Looks like Cupid has been busy--he and his friends look pretty proud of themselves.  I believe, from the expression on their faces, that Cupid is in the middle--obviously the ringleader and full of mischief.

I wonder who lost their hearts to this band of cherubs.  And where are they taking them?  One can only speculate.

Happy Valentines Day!
