Going to a Fire -Postcard Friendship Friday #109

Yesterday we had a chimney fire.  I'm so grateful no one was hurt and that our home is still standing.  We are counting our blessings.  We were told by several firemen and a restoration expert that someone was watching over us.  Indeed, I believe in God who sends His angels to keep us from harm.  We are so grateful.

In light of our latest adventure, this wonderful postcard of firefighters from days gone by seemed most appropriate.

Have a beautiful weekend.

Candid Camera Shot -Guest Heart Thursday

Years ago, at a local estate sale, I found an ancient notebook filled with vintage Valentines.  There were 50 or more pasted inside.  I purchased the Valentines for only $5.  This charming old card is one of them.

When unfolded, the object of the candid shot is this handsome looking fellow in a dapper hat and tie.  He seems to like the idea that this darling young woman is taking his picture.

If anyone out there has any information about this card, I would love to hear from you!

Baby Blue Faery

I don't remember where I found this particular piece--but in spite of being a tad odd, it is also rather cute!  I don't think this is the entire painting, as it appears to be cropped too closely to this little fellow's wing and hand.  Does anyone out there know who the artist is?

Have a lovely week.

National Love Your Pet Day -Postcard Friendship Friday #108

I fell in love with this postcard long ago.  It is a part of my real-life collection.  The darling baby with those bouncing blond curls, reminds me of my own dear ones when they were small.  I adore the bunny, too--he seems to be enjoying the baby's great big, squashy hug.

Yesterday was National Love your Pet Day.  I thought this cutie would be perfect for both the holiday and for Postcard Friendship Friday!

Have a wonderful day wherever you are, everyone--whether it be snowing, sunny or rainy!

PS  Sorry about the mix up on LinkyTools this morning--I had PFF all set up to publish at midnight last night--but in doing so, somehow I put in the wrong dates so LinkyTools was closed.  It is open and ready for use now!  Thanks for your patience.

I'll Camp Near You -Guest Heart Thursday

This perky young lady has a moveable arm. Movement is allowed by a tiny metal fitting, which you can see if you look closely. That arm of hers is quite muscular!  lol  This Valentine Card is made of thick cardboard, and was probably published around World War One.

If anyone out there has any information about this card, I would love to hear from you!

Cupid's Aim -Postcard Friendship Friday #107

I remember when Cupid's arrow pierced my heart for the first time.  Ah, first love...those moments we will always remember.  Nearly every person experiences first love.  Not everyone meets the love of one's life.

There is an older couple I know...she is ailing now.  His eyes fill with tears as he says, "She's the love of my life.  She's been there for me, now I will be there for her."  I think of my own precious parents.  Daddy loved Mumsie--she also was the love of his life. They grew together through thick and thin.  They were married for 53 years.

Such a love is beyond measure, precious and dear.  It is a great blessing to those who find it.

I will be out of town for the next four days, so will not be able to comment on your wonderful postcards until I get back.  I am SO looking forward to seeing what you post.  Happy Valentine's Day and Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

Let it Snow! -Postcard Friendship Friday #106

I am posting this beautiful young woman in the snow in honor of the lovely snowstorm we are having here in the Central Willamette Valley of Oregon.  It's been a LONG time.  I love snow, so I am just having the best time watching it fall.  There's something so beautiful about falling snow.  At least to me.

This postcard, I thought, was especially lovely.  The fox she's wearing I didn't notice until after I posted this.  The artist's use of color is beautiful.  I find myself mesmerized by this exquisite painting.

Have a lovely weekend and Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

To My Valentine

What a fun sentiment for a Valentine!  I believe God made people like flowers, all colors, shapes and sizes.  These young girls are beautiful--such sweet faces and lovely costumes.

Happy Valentines  Day!
