Today is Valentine's Day.  I adore this postcard because it reminds me so much of my younger sister.  Her lovely face and eyes--though hers are green, are faithfully rendered here.

Tis You and You alone

I often think of my one true love.  I miss him so much.  He was a man's man, but he loved me and I loved him.  I wish he could come back just once so I could hug him again.

He was kind, good and strong.  My Beloved.  I love you, Honey.

Stretching the Truth

This Valentine's Day Card, made in the USA in the late 1930's is another of my favorites. Isn't this kitty cute? Love those fluffy undies and high heels.

This winking beauty has a missing part--it is her paw, which, with a lever on the other side of the card, would have moved to stretch the chewing gum.

You Figure With Me

Published by the E. Rosen Company, in Providence Rhode Island sometime the early 1930's, this darling card is the Valentine plea of a hard workin' farmer boy. I love the way his cheeks pooch as he labors with that hoe. One might think he's about to burst into a happy whistle.

These cards are made of very thick cardboard, and have holes where a "pop" candy on a stick was thrust through--these "Valentine Pop" cards were quite popular around that time.
