A Sunny Greeting -Postcard Friendship Friday #498

So much is happening, I thought a cheery greeting was in order.  The small daffodils in my garden are bright and happy and have been blooming since mid-January.  The larger ones are beginning to bloom, just in time to bring joy to a world that seems turned upside down.

We are not allowed to travel unless it is an emergency.  Thankfully, I have my darling Mumsie here, so I'm not completely alone.  She's such a wonderful lady to have around.

New Year's Greetings!

It is hard to believe the New Year is only hours away.  I look back over the past year and am amazed at all that happened.  It passed by so quickly--but so slowly all at once. 

May God bless you with peace, joy, laughter and give you wisdom beyond your own when you need it most.  God is so good.

I love Ireland--it is the land of my ancestors on Dad's side.  I also love St. Patrick's Day with all it's fun and tomfoolery.  This postcard is especially cunning--the artwork is beautiful and exemplifies the spirit of the Irish.

The Irish are full of life.  Their history is filled with heroes and hardships.  I am proud to be of the Irish and to wear the green.

Greetings From Spring Valley -Postcard Friendship Friday #352

Greetings dear  Friends.  This beautiful postcard of white roses seemed perfect for today's blog. Did you know there is a certain language presented by flowers?  Books have been written about this.  According to the fascinating book Tussie Mussies, by Geraldine Adamich Laufer, in Victorian times, white roses carried the meaning of "unity, silence, keep my secret, I am worthy of you, love, respect and beauty." 

I adore roses--my garden is filled with all colors and types of them.  June is when the roses begin to bloom.  I long for the lovely aroma of those lovely flowers.

Here in the beautiful Willamette Valley of Oregon, Spring has sprung with a vengeance!  Last week almost overnight, daffodils and purple crocus burst from the ground and all the fruit trees were suddenly covered with masses of pink and white blossoms. 

This morning the sun is peering through the clouds and hope fills the air.  It is going to be a beautiful day. There's something about this time of year which melts the heart with joy. This will be my third Spring without the love of my life.  He liked to work outside this time of year--I miss the camaraderie we shared working in the yard together.  Sometimes when I am outside doing the work which must be done, I fancy my Beloved is there beside me.

My Fond Greetings

Here is yet another postcard from my "cyber" collection. I love the studied profusion and off kilter balance of this lovely flower heart.  To me, this looks like a harp.

I am in awe of these artists of old, who created such beautiful postcards.  They inspire me.

Thanksgiving Hearts -Guest Heart Thursday

It took a long time to find a Thanksgiving card with hearts!  Isn't this little girl adorable?  I love her heart-covered bloomers.  What a funny postcard.  I don't think I'd let my tiny daughter chase a turkey around the yard...but times were different then, that's for sure.

A Sunny Greeting - Postcard Friendship Friday #72

This postcard with its poetic greeting is my wish for each of you this early Friday morning.  Hearing today's national weather reports, it seems it is sunny everywhere except where I live.  As I type this, the clouds are scudding thick over the rising sun--though they say (who are they anyway) it will clear off later and will reach the mid-70's. 

In the meantime, I walk in my garden where the faeries flit over the flowers.  The flowers, of course call their greetings--not only to these tiny beings--but to me.  Sometimes they even sing.

Years ago my darling Sissy Clytie sent this Christmas card to me when she lived across the country. Ever the sentimental sister, I saved this wonderfully whimsical card--and now I have the joy of sharing it with you!

I love this illustration--what a darling kitty! It fits for this month of ghosts and black cats. I happen to love the way a black cat's eyes glow in their dark furred faces.
