My Shadow

I have a little shadow
That goes in and out with me.
And what can be the use of him,
Is more than I can see.

He is very, very like me,
From the heels up to the head;
And I see him jump before me,
When I jump into my bed.

This is another illustration from my beloved book of children's poetry.  I have always loved this poem--having a wonderful imagination, as a child--I often danced with my shadow, imagining she was my long lost twin.

Ah, I love Robert Louis Stevenson's poetry! I had my son do an entire semester in Literature last year all Stevenson works. I really enjoy the garden of verses.
