Happy Birthday Little Sister! -Postcard Friendship Friday #417

I remember the day my youngest sister came home.  She was so tiny with a head of dark hair, deep blue eyes and eyelashes so long they touched her perfectly drawn brows.  What a beautiful baby!  However, I was fourteen years old and as a teen, a newborn wasn't that interesting to me.

Yet,  as she grew we became very good friends.  I wrote songs about her, played with her, teased her and loved her.

She has a whimsical nature much like my own.  Today she turns 46 years old.  It is hard to believe so many years have passed since the day my parents brought home that sweet little girl.  I am grateful to the Lord for my sister.  She is one of my best buddies and is such a blessing in my life!

Have a wonderful weekend and Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

Girl, Grapes and the Turkey! -Postcard Friendship Friday #334

I apologize for not getting this up yesterday--I was having a sweet time of thanksgiving with my Mumsie.  I am so glad she is here on this earth--she is a precious blessing to me.  I thank the Lord for her.

There is so much for which to be thankful--I am glad we celebrate a day of Thanksgiving here in America--steeped in our history, it means a lot to all Americans.

Christmas is just around the corner--it is a time when we celebrate God's gift to mankind!  I am so looking forward to the holiday this year...though I will always miss sharing it with my Beloved, Dad and my sweet little brother Dow.

Have a lovely holiday season, dear Friends.  Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

Flowers in Her Hair - Happy Postcard Friendship Friday #278

I have posted many photographs of this little girl.  She is said to have been a photographer's daughter.  Photos of this young lady along with other family members can be found everywhere.  Her sweet face has become quite well-known.

She is so lovely.  She reminds me of my own dear niece--their faces are nearly identical.  Perhaps this is why I am so drawn to her.  So, here she is again, with pink tinted flowers in hair and deliciously added detail.  This postcard was sent to me by another collector, to whom I am deeply grateful.

I apologize for missing last week's PFF.  I was out of town and was unable to get to a computer.  Lots of stuff happening right now.  It was so very nice to be missed.

Happy Postcard Friendship Friday and I hope you have a lovely weekend, dear Friends!

My Heart is in Ireland -Guest Heart Thursday

I have always loved Ireland.  My Father's ancestors hailed from that fair green land.  I love Irish music--there's something about it which pulls at my soul.

When I was a little girl--and even now, I would dance a little dance all on my own.  It wasn't until years later, watching River Dance, that I realized what I was doing was a version of an ancient Irish dance.

Some things are inborn in one's heart and soul, I think.  My heart is in Ireland!

Happy Guest Heart Thursday!

Butterfly and the Girl

This is some stationery Clytie and I used when we were younger.  This artistic style was very popular back in the 1960's.   I feel nostalgic when I see it!

Today is so rainy and soggy, I thought the contrast to the dark clouds with the sunny brightness of this happy image might bring a little cheer!

Have a wonderful rest of the week!

You're a Good Skate! - Guest Heart Thursday

This is another Valentine's Day Card made in the USA, sometime in the late 1930's.  It seems to have been well-loved.  I love the  outfit the little girl wears--short dress, bloomers, matching anklets and Mary Jane skates.  I'm sure that little boy with his sailor shirt, blue shorts and matching socks, is showing off a bit for his small lady love.

Angelic Face -Postcard Friendship Friday

This young lady was featured in so many Tuck postcards which were published in the late 1800-s, early 1900's. Her face is positively angelic. When I see her face, I suddenly long for my pencils and art paper!

This wonderful postcard is a part of my cyber collection.

Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

Vintage Summer Beauty

Here is another postcard from my "cyber collection." A friend who knows I love photos of this little French girl, sent it my way.

Here you see she's a little more grown up. Her face is maturing, and her hair is done up, denoting young womanhood. I wonder what happened to her. I wonder about her life. I wonder who she was.

She reminds me of someone.
