Me and the Beach - Postcard Friendship Friday #54

Good morning everyone. In the next hour Scientists expect a Tsunami to hit the Pacific Northwest including California, Oregon and Washington coasts.  We know so many people who live along these Coastlines--please pray for their safety.   No one knows yet, if there will be just a small wave, or devastating event.  So far, no major damage in Hawaii.

Our hearts go out to the people of Japan.  The pictures coming in are terrifying.  Vast fires are spreading across the Island.  I can't imagine the utter devastation these people are facing.  Our hearts and prayers go out to Japan.

Don't forget to visit Gemma at Greyscale Territory for Weekend Mailbox.

Abe Lincoln alerted me several hours ago. I've since looked elsewhere, and seen predictions of eight foot waves on the WA & OR coastline. I don't know how accurate any of it is, but you're right - they need our prayers.

I'm not playing this week, Beth. I'm trying to get ready for the art show next week.

Nice postcard...looks like a blissfully-happy 5 year-old boy. Fortunately for him, we know better about tectonics than the Lafkenches, or so we claim.
See my awful post.

Hi beth, It's a terrible disaster. The images on TV I saw today were terrifying: big waves across the country taking houses with them. Helicopter views of people in cars driving on the highway unconscious of what was heading to them. It gives your postcard a second meaning: the sea is lovely but can be a monster.

Pictures and footage on the BBC news site are just horific. Really makes you sit and stare in awe at the power of nature. Heartfelt feelings to all those impacted.

My PFF post is now up.

The plates seem to be moving a lot this year. They are thinking/hoping the tsunami will not be as bad as first thought. I hope this is true.

This is my first PFF. I'll be visiting with all the other participants in between watching the news updates. Glad to have found my way here.

It's really dreadful, all the things that have happened this year, and now Japan. I understand from the news that it hasn't spread over the Pacific as badly as they had first feared. The pictures from Japan, though, have my heart stopping.

Great card!

When I went to the linky page the verbal instructions scared the heck out of me. lol

Thankfully there were no waves on the Oregon coast, and they say due in part to the fact that our tide was out at the time. I understand that the warning has been lifted and families have been allowed back in to evacuated areas.

I could not believe that there were people down there walking along the shoreline even with the beaches closed off and a warning in place. It takes all kinds I guess.

Hello... I'm joining PFF again after several months of absence.

My heart goes out to the Japanese people. I could not bear to look at the pictures and watch the news on TV. The tsunami waves have also reached my country (Philippines) but no major destruction, thank God.

No tectonics, inertia or sieshes going on in that idyllic picture!

Beautiful card. The terrible event in Japan is only just being fully realised. The news is getting worse as the days pass.
