Hangin' Around

My Grandmother Jenny kept every birth announcement and shower invitation sent to her. This is a birth announcement for my cousin David sent in 1957. It is stained and crumpled a bit--but I thought it was quite unusual.

Check out that baby hanging by his armpits in the upper corner! From the look on his face, baby David doesn't seem to like the idea of hanging on ribbons in the buff very much!

Can't say as I blame Baby David at all! Hanging by ribbons can't be comfortable!

Wonderful that you save these too. I also find it of interest that he was born at a maternity hospital. I've never heard of a hospital that was specifically a maternity hospital, although it makes a whole lot of sense.

Hello Beth Niquette

I always feel for the baby as it is Christened, what a horrible to have cold water poured over your head.

How wonderful that your Grandmother kept all the invitations to her. I am just like her, I have kept letters and cards since I was about 8 years old... I hope my daughter appreciates them one day.

Warm wishes

Sissy this makes my armpits sore just looking at it...seems like a very strange way to display a baby.
Aren't those Grammies that keep everything just the best.
Have a great week my dear I'm glad you had a great time on your trip.

LOL, I doubt even if he were dressed he might not like hanging from his armpits. That would be downright painful.

How sweet that you are able to enjoy these wonderful bits of ephemera that have been passed down to you!

How cute! He does look like he's afraid of falling from those ribbons.
