Wedding upon the Crow's nest

Today my husband and I would have been married 37 years.  He has been gone nearly six years now and I still miss him.

I remember when I was walking down the aisle...  So much of life ahead--so much unknown.  It felt a little like that thrilling kiss atop the crows nest in this extraordinary vintage postcard!

Have a beautiful day--don't forget to do something sweet for the ones you love.  Life is short and can change in an instant.

Blessing and hope to you!

A Lifetime Together -Postcard Friendship Friday #313

I posted this wonderful old postcard in remembrance of one of the best days of my life.  Tomorrow would have been our 33rd anniversary.  It is hard to believe a year and a half has gone by since my Beloved flew away to heaven.

I have so much for which to be thankful, but I have to admit I miss my Darling with all my heart.  I just wish he were here.  There will be days when I remember and smile, and days when I remember and weep.  Sometimes I might even get mad.  All of these feelings can sweep over my heart at a moment's notice.

In the 31 years we shared together, it only rained once on that day.  Isn't that amazing?  A special little gift I love to think about.   Tomorrow will be filled with sunshine and friends.  For this I am deeply grateful.

God bless you dear Friends.  Be sure to give all those you love a BIG hug today.  Have a blessed and lovely day, dear Friends and Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

Happy Anniversary -Postcard Friendship Friday #266

This week would have been our 32nd anniversary.  I have chosen to celebrate those years this week.  I will spend time remembering all the beauty and wonder of our life together.  I thank God for the time I was given here on earth with my beloved Alan.

Have a lovely weekend everyone--take time to tell the ones you love how much they mean to you.  Life can be gone in an instant.  Never go through a day without saying, "I love you."  I was blessed with a beautiful life, and a man who told me he loved me every day of our life together.  I celebrate that amazing love today.

Thank you for dropping by, and Happy Postcard Friendship Friday, too!

Coke Bottle on a Cookie Sheet

This postcard is one of my "cyber" collection.  The costumes the wedding party wear here are just fascinating.  The Groom's short pants, shoes and extraordinary head gear truly catch my attention--and why is there an umbrella hanging from his coat pocket?

The bride's dress and lace are exquisite--but that hat!  I am sure it was considered the height of fashion then, but to me it looks like she's wearing a coke bottle on a cookie sheet.  I find myself wondering how she was able to keep it on--perhaps that is why she has such great posture!

I apologize if my observations offend anyone because of traditional dress ideals.  The truth is, the fashion of yesteryear nearly always has something over which to smile.

A Good Life

Today my youngest Sister is getting married. She is marrying a wonderful man who loves her very much. May God bless their lives with hope, love, strength and winsome love. But not just that, may God bless my sister and my new brother each, with the ability to go more than half way toward eachother in the hard times.

Dad is well enough that he'll be able to walk her down the aisle using his cane. The oxygen and wheel chair won't be far. Thank you for your prayers. Dad has had a few bad days recently. He's felt so discouraged with the length of this healing process. Please pray that Dad will be encouraged and feel God's blessing on his life.
