Happy April Fool's Day -Postcard Friendship Friday #401

I am sure in the past April Fool's Day has fallen on the day we celebrate Easter, but I have no memory of it.

In deference to Easter, I am posting two entries for Postcard Friendship Friday.  I love April Fool's Day and it was my Grandfather's birthday.  He loved to play tricks on us that special day.  I will always treasure those childhood memories.  I hope you experienced laughter and happiness on this rather nefarious holiday.

Thank you for dropping by.  A mischievous April Fool's Day to you and Happy Postcard Friendship Friday to you!

Summer Roses -Postcard Friendship Friday #268

What a beautiful day it is today--though the clouds are gathering and there will be showers coming in by this evening.  There is also the possibility of thunderstorms.  Here in Oregon, we rarely have dangerous thunderstorms, so when they come rumbling through, I enjoy them.

This Spring has been amazing.  Plants--roses, fruit trees, vegetables, flowers--are lush and bursting forth in more than normal strength and beauty.  It is the prettiest Spring I've seen in a long time.

And now it is finally summer.  In my garden there is a wealth of beautiful roses, their branches are so heavy they dip to the ground.   Some of my roses are bigger than my hand.  I've never seen them that large before!

Ah, the aroma of roses and honeysuckle fill the air...the sun is shining, and it is a beautiful day.

Summer is here!  Have a beautiful weekend, dear Friends. Thank you for dropping by, and Happy Postcard Friendship Friday, too!

Forget Me Nots

This is a page from a wonderful little book given to me by my precious friend Marian, who flew away to heaven some time back. The book is called Friendship's Token.

She writes, Beth, I do hope you enjoy the little book. It was given to my mother long before I arrived on the scene, so it is very old, but it had the sentiment I wanted to share with you. Oh, yes. I agree with you on telling people you love them. When my grandfather died my grandmother said, "Oh, I hope he knew I loved him." So sad. But you do know my love. We are the kind of friends who, at any time or place can say, "and" and go on.

Marian's beautiful book on Friendship was printed by Cupples Lamp; Leon, located in New York. There is no publish date, but the inside is signed, To Maria from Aunty Ford. Marian included an old photograph of her Mother. On the back there is a quaint note, "We have one like it, so thee may keep it."

I often think of Marian and of the tremendous influence she had in my life when who I am now was still forming. What a wonderful woman she was. I will never forget her. I am looking forward to meeting up with my friend in heaven to say, "and" and go on.
