Heureuse Annee! -Postcard Friendship Friday #340

It is very cold for our part of the country.  We are usually in the mid-thirties and forties.  Today it is 17 outside, with a high of 27!  We are NOT used to this kind of weather here in the Willamette Valley in Oregon.

My Grandfather told of a time it was so cold he drove a team of horses and a buggy across the Willamette River.  That was around 1900 and he was a teenager.  Ah, boys!  Some things never change.  I do love the snow, but this very cold weather isn't a favorite of mine.

However, there's a big storm coming in tomorrow and Sunday.  They say we are in for a silver thaw.  Grandpa used to call ice storms by that name.  I always loved how it sounded.  I am looking forward to the bad weather--and I pray no one gets hurt trying to get around in the ice.

I hope you are having a wonderful New Year so far, dear Friends.  God bless you and Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

Under a Red Umbrella -Guest Heart Thursday

After weeks of sunshine it is stormy and grey today.  I didn't realize how much, as a native Oregonian, I have missed the clouds and rain!  It should be gone by tomorrow, but we've had some soakers already today.

I thought this postcard perfect for Guest Heart Thursday.  Truly it IS nice to have a sweetheart!

Let it Snow - Postcard Friendship Friday #74

I apologize for getting PFF up a day late.  My computer's motherdrive crashed Thursday and I haven't had access to a computer until this morning.

I posted this snowy picture, not only because it is of the little girl who intrigues me so, but because I like the idea of snow on this muggy weekend.

REMINDER: Comments and links which contain advertising and do not refer to Postcard Friendship Friday, mailboxes, the Post office, postcards or the love of postcards, will be deleted.

Many Good Wishes - Sunday Scan

This is one of Grandma Gladys' lovely cards.  When she moved away to Washington State, she left her boxes of cards with me.  How I have treasured them.  I saved them all--some I have used, others have become a part of my card collection.  This Get Well Card is one of those.

Today is the second Sunday for Al's wonderful new meme.   I think it is a lovely idea--since so many of us use the scanner every day.  Check out "Al's Photography Blog" and his fascinating meme Sunday Scans!

It's Raining, It's POURING!

This postcard from my "cyber" collection, printed in 1942 seemed perfect for today.  We were sopped with rains and high winds all last night and this morning.  The rain came down so hard it woke me in the night.  They say there may be more downpours and possible thunderstorms later on!  Woohoo!

This postcard came from Deb's personal collection.  You can read about the fascinating history of this wonderful postcard here.
