Fixing Sissy's Hair -Postcard Friendship Friday #505

As the eldest of six children I often helped fix my sisters' hair.  It was quite fun to do--we played dress up a lot.  In the middle of the field of blueberries was a little bit of a woods.  I made a garden under those trees.  In my mind it was an island in the middle of the sea.

We would take our lunch out to the garden, where we'd built a fort out of old doors.  We would pretend to be shipwrecked...  Ah, we had so much fun.  It isn't a garden anymore--but everyone still calls it my garden.

Even nearly 50 years later, one can still find ancient earrings hanging from the branches of the old oak trees.  When I find them--I hear the faint song of childhood...

I hope you have a fantastic weekend!  Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

Happy Birthday, Mumsie!

I love these roses.  One can almost catch the scent of them in the air.  This artist has captured the beauty of roses--one of my favorite flowers.

Though this postcard wishes the receiver good luck, the truth is, I don't believe in luck--I believe in God.  He has seen me through good and bad times.

He is the One who gave my Mother to me.  I didn't always appreciate her kindness and sweet loving heart.  I didn't understand the frustrations she had or the hard life she faced.  When I was a teenager, she knew me better than I knew myself.  But I didn't know that.

Now Mums is one of my very best friends.  I wish I could have known that a lot sooner!  Sunday is Mumsie's birthday.  She is beloved to my heart.  I am SO blessed to have this wonderful woman as my own dear Mom.
