'Tis a Day for Father's in Law! - Postcard Friendship Friday #22

Today we celebrate Father-In-Law Day.  This lovely postcard commemorates the role of this kind and brave fellow, who accepts his son or daughter's spouse into his life and binds them closely to his heart.

No one really knows how this holiday was started, though most believe it to be a recent holiday invented by card companies!

Father-In-Law Day honors that loving, funny, and cheerful old man. Regardless of his personality and charms (or lack of them), this day is dedicated to a man who certainly deserves recognition.

There are endless ways to celebrate this day-send him a card, spend a little time with him, or give him his favorite snack. You can send a special letter of gratitude or an e-card to your father-in-law for welcoming you into his family and supporting you through the years. Gifts are a part of the Day. Finding a gift is quite simple; just think of all the activities the old man enjoys, then surprise him by planning a full day together. While the gift will show your appreciation, it's the time spent together that is to be cherished most.

Who knew fathers-in-law had their own day? Always a treat to find out about these obscure holidays, and to see your vintage finds, too. Happy PFF!

They seem to be looking at different things: not at the photographer, not at the roses, not at each other.

I had no idea! I have the most wonderful father-in-law in the world, in fact I think of him as my father since he is the only one I have left. The best part is that both he and my mother-in-law have continued to be like parents to me even though their son and I have been divorced for 25 years! They are truly a blessing in my life.

I didn't know about father-in-law day, either. Mine has been gone for a long time, but my youngest son has his name as his middle name. Wish he'd been around to know it!

Shows how behind times I am, I never knew there was a Father-in-law day. What about Mother-in-law, or is that just Mother's Day in May? Seems I don't have enough time to visit blogs right now, hardly have enough time to get on Facebook and check things out and to play some of their games, which I enjoy. Been working trying to get the yard cleaned up a little and things hauled out for the trash man. We're suppose to buy large brown sacks at $1.00 each and then put in the trunk and drive them to the city building, unload and hoist them up into a wagon/trailer. Well I just can't do that anymore. Our Granddaughter helped me the last time. They don't have anyone there to help lift the bags. So after talking to one of our neighbors and finding out they just put their stuff into the plastic trash bags for trash day, that's what I've been doing the past several weeks, but I like to cut the stuff into smaller pieces and that takes time. So if you don't see me around much, that's why, trying to get a head start on what I will need to be doing this Fall. Glad you made it home safely. Hope all the people in your family that has been having surgery or one thing or another, are all on the road to recovery.

Bless his heart & soul, he rests happily in Heaven ... but he was the most precious man that lived. What a beautiful day to share, in prayer, for him.

Love that beautiful card.
Have a lovely PINK summer's eve ~
