National Hot Dog Day is In the Pink - Postcard Friendship Friday # 21

July 23rd is National Hot Dog Day in America!  I chose this postcard because hot dogs and baseball go together, er, hand and glove.

No one knows how this holiday got started, but perhaps we celebrate this day because Hot dogs are an American tradition.  Hot Dogs are roasted on the grill and at picnics all across the country. They are at the ballpark. They are sold from carts on street corners in every city. They are toasted on sticks over back yard barbecue pits and over woodland camp fires.  It's not hard to find them.

Each year Americans buy over 837 packages of hot dogs and at baseball stadiums 24 million hot dogs are consumed.  They are delicious!  So what's in a Hot dog?  Don't ask--sometimes it's best if you don't know!

Happy National Hot Dog Day!

I apologize that I must combine Pink Saturday with PFF because I will be away from my computer until Monday.  Thank you for your patience!  Be sure to drop by Gemma's Weekend Mailbox for more fun mail-related stuff.

I'm glad you reminded me about National Hot Dog Day! I'll have to have one for lunch now.

I see from the reverse (message side) that the artist is Tom McNeely, but he was obviously commissioned to do the card by Fleetwood. It is a First Day Card.I had my covers for the issue canceled at Cooperstown.

What a wonderful postcard! I'm not a big hot dog person ... someone once told me the reason I don't like to watch baseball is because I don't like hotdogs, I loathe beer, and I can't stand peanuts. Ack, at least I like apple pie!!!

I hope you are having fun this weekend! I'll have a hot dog tomorrow at the ball game and think of you!

Love that card and stamp! I'm a big baseball fan, but not a big hot dog fan!

Yum, hot dogs! Nothing like one at a baseball game, backyard BBQ or even from one of the carts in New York City. Happy PFF, Beth!

Pretty sure we don't celebrate National Hot Dog day here in the UK. I do have a fond memory from a holiday a couple of years ago where the 5 of us in the family went to see a baseball game in Boston. I'd already eaten way too much but just had to have a hot dog to accompany the game. The whole day was great but the kids enjoyed the frisby catching dog who entertained us during one of the intervals best.

I've just been to look up what is a genuine hot dog, but all it's done is to make me feel hungry. :)

Great card! Baseball is a mystery to me. :)

Love the colours of the card.
I eat veggie hot dogs and they taste pretty much the same as the mainstream ones, maybe there is no difference:-) Baseball rules are a bit of a mystery to me but it looks like a great game.

Beth, a combination of National Hot Dog Day, Pink Saturday and PFF in one long weekend must be overwhelming. Sounds pretty healthy to leave your computer for a while(:

I do fancy about the hot dog stuff. It's funny how people on earth can describe different words to mean one single thing.

Interesting info and the colourful pinky postcard.

I am hoping that the participants have a Pop Up Comment Window so I can leave a comment when I pay them a visit.

It is just unfortunate that I can't do that to some who have Embedded Below Post Comment Window setting.

My apology to most of you.

Anyhow, Happy PFF to you all!

Cool postcard!

I recently took several photos of a baseball mural in Silverton. Worth a look if you've never seen it.
