The Sun's Travel

The sun is not a-bed, when I
At night upon my pillow lie;
Still around the earth his way he takes
And morning after morning makes.

While here at home, in shining day,
We round the sunny garden play,
Each little Indian sleepy-head
Is being kissed and put to bed.

Here is another old poem, and illustration from my beloved, yet tattered book of Children's Verse, which was published around the turn of the century.

This is beautiful. I love old verses, especially childrens verse. The card is gorgeous. The little girl looks as if she just wished upon a star and is gazing in wonder at the awe of night, hopeful that her dreams will come true.

Lovely post Sis, vintage pictures and poems alway seem so warm and tender to me, compared to things now which come across as vivid and loud.
Do you think things were really kinder and gentler back then or is it just the yellowing of the page and a fading of memory.
