Adoring Angels - Sunday Scans
This wonderful unusual card came from a box of old cards given to me by my darling Gramma Gladys. She has the most fabulous collection of Vintage cards and postcards. When she moved from Oregon to Washington, she left several boxes of her collection with me.
I had the blessing of seeing her on my recent trip--she is tinier than ever, a winsome little Grannie elf with her beautiful wrinkled face filled with mischief--and that wonderful shock of pure white hair. She says she can't do a thing with it. She is an adorable little Grandmother.
Have a beautiful Sunday!

Catch the Bird! - Sunday Scans
I know people used to raise their own turkeys for Thanksgiving eating. It's interesting to see this vintage depiction of a young boy trying to catch the bird. One can't blame that turkey for trying to fly away!

Fire in the Grate - Sunday Scans
This wonderful lineart was scanned from an book of children's poetry from the early 1900's. I love the pen and inks to be found in this book--I've had the book since I was a child. If you look at my drawing style, you can see how these long-gone artists have inspired my own artwork.
Have a lovely day!

A Rose for Sunday - Sunday Scans
My garden is in full bloom right now--finally my roses are happy in the sunshine, which has been uncommon in Oregon this summer. There is something so lovely, so rare about the blooming of roses.
I love this vintage artist's rendition of roses. This painting is an inspiration to me.
Have a lovely day!

Faeries Three - Sunday Scans
I especially love this wonderful old card, because it reminds me of my sisters and I. I was 14 and Clytie was 12 when our darling little sister Leigh was born. She adored us, and we thought she was wonderful. That love continues to this day--though my youngest Sissy is taller than me and a Mom herself.
How blessed I am to have such incredibly wonderful sisters. I think I might be one of the most blessed people I know. (grin)

A Friendly Greeting - Sunday Scans
Here is another wonderful bit of ephemera from Grammie's collection. This beautiful card was from Grammie's best Friend, Ruth. Their Friendship is a sweet legacy. We are all blessed by their loving relationship.

Lady's Slipper - Sunday Scans
This beautiful card is from our Grandma Jenny's collection! She loved flowers of all kinds--including the Lady's Slipper.
I love lady's slippers. In our childhood, the only Lady's Slipper we found growing in our woods was so rare, it stuck in my memory as a gloriously magical moment. We found her delicate blooms at the top of the canyon in a meadow of moss where the wild hazelnut and fragrant fir trees tangled a green roof overhead. Once her blooms had faded we never saw her again. I remember going back year after year to see if she'd returned. She never did.
Years later, my family and I stayed with a dear couple in the mountains of Northern California. The woods there were filled with lady's slippers. What a beautiful, magical place to walk--one had to be careful of one's footsteps there were so many of these wonderful flowers. Someday I shall paint that whimsical wooded forest.

Apple, or Orange? - Sunday Scans
I own a well-used children's book of poetry from the early 1900's. This is one of the wonderful pen and ink drawings from that lovely book. I love the style of this long-ago artist. My question is--do you think the fruit is an apple? Or an orange?

Shimmering - Sunday Scans
This is a card I received years ago. I love the way this fairy shimmers--the scan really doesn't do the card justice. You can see some of the wonderful detail when you click for the larger picture. I thought this to be the perfect thing for today's Sunday Scan!

Springtime Violets - Sunday Scans
This beautiful spray of violets was scanned from a book printed around 1900. This little book celebrates Friendship and was given to me by my sweet Friend Marian--who resides in heaven. Her friendship meant a great deal to me. I imagine her eyes sparkling with happiness as she tends her beautiful heavenly garden.

Many Good Wishes - Sunday Scan
This is one of Grandma Gladys' lovely cards. When she moved away to Washington State, she left her boxes of cards with me. How I have treasured them. I saved them all--some I have used, others have become a part of my card collection. This Get Well Card is one of those.
Today is the second Sunday for Al's wonderful new meme. I think it is a lovely idea--since so many of us use the scanner every day. Check out "Al's Photography Blog" and his fascinating meme Sunday Scans!

With Love to Mother - Sunday Scans
This is one of Grammie's wonderful cards. I love the flowers and the little bluebirds. They seem so fat and happy! The flowers are blooming, the birds are flitting--and miracle of miracles--the sun is shining! Inside each little bluebird folds back to reveal a sweet message. This seemed the perfect card for Sunday Scans.
