Apple Blossoms, Warmth and Congratulations

This card is SO beautiful.  It is in German and according to Google translate it means "Warm Congratulations."  I adore this artist's work.  I am often inspired by these wonderful cards of old.

A Song of Mother's Love -Postcard Friendship Friday #405

This is the sweetest postcard.  I love Robins and their nests and baby birds are so darling.  The poem is beautiful, too.

A Song of Mother's Love

Loving and watching and caring--
That is a Mother's part.
Teaching the best and sharing
All of the good in her heart.

Hoping always and planning
For the days and years to be.
That is the picture I carry
Of my own Mother with me.

I am SO grateful for my own dear Mumsie.  She's a wonderful friend and precious Mother.  I wish I could find words to describe how much she has always meant to me--but mere words cannot express those feelings and thoughts.  She is my heart.

Take time to cherish your Mothers, sweet Friends.  My Mums is getting up in years and I treasure every moment i get with her.  Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

A Mother's Joy -Postcard Friendship Friday #404

My children are continually a joy to me.  They are grown--and I am incredibly proud of them.  I am SO grateful for the memories I have of our kids when they were little.  Though I remember some of those days were difficult, I miss the time when they were small.

There is nothing to compare with a Mother's love for her children.  I remember what my own sweet Mumsie told me long ago.  She said when she first looked into my face, there was a love born in her heart which was greater and more different than any she'd ever experienced before...and that love was for me.

She had six of us, yet each of us knew we were first in her heart.  There were never any favorites.  She loved us dearly and differently.  Each of us experienced our Mother's love in a way which was all encompassing and all our own.  How blessed I am to have such a wonderful Mom.

I have many friends who do not have that kind of love from their Mothers and others who's Moms are in heaven...Mumsie has taken each of these dear ones to her heart.  They have become my dear sisters...what a blessing!

May God cover your heart with warmth and sunshine, dear Friends.  Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

Something to Blame -Postcard Friendship Friday #403

I was happily married for 31 years, and would do it all over again.  SO--I don't need the excuse this funny, clever postcard offers--neither did my Beloved.  LOL Of course our anniversary fell on the 14th...

My husband used to head a "phobialogologist club."  He collected all kinds of phobia words.  LOL  Did you know some people are so afraid of the number 13, they have a condition known as paraskevidekatriaphobia.  Lots of people avoid doing much on Friday the 13th because of its reputation of being a day of bad luck and accidents.   Many high-rise buildings, hotels and hospitals don’t have 13th floors and many airports don’t have gates numbered 13.

We really don't know why this day is believed to be unlucky.  Some think it began with the code of Hammurabi, a collection of legal decisions made by Hammurabi during his reign as king of Babylon in 1729 B.C.E.  These laws were numbered from 1-282, but the numbers 13, 66 and 99 were missing.

Other historians believe the day's reputation originated with ancient Sumerians, who considered the No. 12 “perfect” and the number which followed it imperfect.  Some say its reputation was established on Friday the 13th in October 1307 when France’s King Philip IV arrested hundreds of Knights Templar, then tortured and burned them at the stake.

I am not one for being frightened, or superstitious about this day, but there are plenty of others who are.  SO--lots of blessing and good luck to you today and happy Postcard Friendship Friday!!!

April Birthday Greetings -Postcard Friendship Friday #402

Hello, sweet Friends.  I thought this was the sweetest old postcard--just perfect for today.  As a small girl, I would have dearly loved to have worm this daffodil dress with matching umbrella.  It must be a warm rain because this little flower girl isn't wearing a sweater.

It is chilly and is raining hard today--a typical Springtime morning here in Oregon.  Tomorrow we are expecting a windstorm.  I am such a kid, I love storms, as long as people and property are not harmed.  It is especially fun when the electricity goes out.  I have a wood stove and candles for warmth and light. One can always hope.  (smile)

I hope you have a wonderful day today, dear Friends!  Have a lovely weekend and Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!
