Happy Birthday, sweet Mumsie -Postcard Friendship Friday #506

Happy Birthday, dearest Mumsie!

May all that cheers
our onward way,
Be yours to make life fair.
Sweet sunlight gladden every day
And banish every care.

I have the sweetest most precious Mother in the world.  She's my best friend.  So many of my friends don't have that kind of relationship with their Moms.  I know how blessed I am to have her in my life.

Happy Birthday!  Happy Mother's Day!  Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

Happy Mother's Day!!!

I wish everyone could be gifted with an amazing Mother.  Sadly that often isn't the case.  I love sharing Mumsie with all my Friends--she has a BIG heart and has many "adopted" sons and daughters.

Years ago I worked as a nurse's aide in a care home for the elderly.  I met so many amazing women there...  I often think of them and am grateful for them.  Those dear ones changed my life...

They are numbered among those I call Mom.

Sweet blessings to you, dear ones.  I hope this day is a lovely one for you.  May God bless you with joy, peace and hope.

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day Weekend! -Postcard Friendship Friday #455

I found this darling postcard online.  I couldn't resist posting it--such a whimsical idea.  Can you imagine what a soft and fragrant place a rose would be for a nap?  One might hope, however, that the baby wouldn't roll out--but perhaps the little fellow has wings?

I am blessed with a Mother who loved to tell us about the wee peoples of the forest.  The faeries she introduced to us and their amazing adventures, still live on in my mind.

Mumsie will be 80 years old next weekend.  She loves to work in her garden and still tells wonderful stories.  It is hard to believe she's going to be that old--she looks like she's in her late 60's.  She is beautiful and amazing--she has led an extraordinary life.

Happy Mother's Day dear ones--I pray this weekend is a special one!

A Mother's Help -Postcard Friendship Friday #454

This is such a lovely piece.  Mothers haven't changed much over the years.  The gentleness and tenderness of this sweet Mother toward her little daughter is beautifully portrayed in this piece.

The older I become, the more appreciative I am of my own dear Mumsie.  I am the eldest of six.  She has been through so much--gave so much of her self--that I am forever grateful for her.  Her love, wisdom and strength means so much to me.

I am blessed to have a mother such as mine.  SO blessed.

Have a wonderful day, sweet Friends--here in the Willamette Valley the sun is out and spring is busting out everywhere.  I am grateful for the sunshine today! Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

Blue Ribbons -Postcard Friendship Friday #453

When I was  younger, you know, in my teens, I didn't think too highly of my long-suffering Mother.  As the years have gone by and I have become a Mom myself--I realize how incredibly blessed I am.

Mumsie is my biggest fan and supporter.  She prays for me every day.  Mums loves me and thinks about me.  She loves all of "us kids"and has no favorites among my five younger siblings.  She loves each of us equally and more--each in our own way.  We talk often and I enjoy her stories--she turns 80 this month.

Good Mothers are out there--but these days it seems there aren't as many of them.

I am grateful for my precious Mumsie.  I thank God for her.  Ah, there are some days I truly wouldn't have made it through without her prayers and deep wisdom.

This month I get to celebrate my precious Mom and post some of my wonderful collection of Mother's Day postcards--I hope you enjoy them!  Happy Mother's Day and a joyous week to you!

My Beautiful Baby -Postcard Friendship Friday #407

I love this painting from the early 1900's.  I can't imagine having to do daily tasks wearing long skirts such as those pictured here.  I thank God for today's more practical clothing.  In the meantime, this mother's face says it all.  "I love you, my beautiful baby!"

Have a lovely Mothers' Day, dear friends--treasure your Moms--Life is fragile and beautiful, and we won't have them here forever.

Blessings, and joy to you!  Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

A Song of Mother's Love -Postcard Friendship Friday #405

This is the sweetest postcard.  I love Robins and their nests and baby birds are so darling.  The poem is beautiful, too.

A Song of Mother's Love

Loving and watching and caring--
That is a Mother's part.
Teaching the best and sharing
All of the good in her heart.

Hoping always and planning
For the days and years to be.
That is the picture I carry
Of my own Mother with me.

I am SO grateful for my own dear Mumsie.  She's a wonderful friend and precious Mother.  I wish I could find words to describe how much she has always meant to me--but mere words cannot express those feelings and thoughts.  She is my heart.

Take time to cherish your Mothers, sweet Friends.  My Mums is getting up in years and I treasure every moment i get with her.  Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

A Mother's Joy -Postcard Friendship Friday #404

My children are continually a joy to me.  They are grown--and I am incredibly proud of them.  I am SO grateful for the memories I have of our kids when they were little.  Though I remember some of those days were difficult, I miss the time when they were small.

There is nothing to compare with a Mother's love for her children.  I remember what my own sweet Mumsie told me long ago.  She said when she first looked into my face, there was a love born in her heart which was greater and more different than any she'd ever experienced before...and that love was for me.

She had six of us, yet each of us knew we were first in her heart.  There were never any favorites.  She loved us dearly and differently.  Each of us experienced our Mother's love in a way which was all encompassing and all our own.  How blessed I am to have such a wonderful Mom.

I have many friends who do not have that kind of love from their Mothers and others who's Moms are in heaven...Mumsie has taken each of these dear ones to her heart.  They have become my dear sisters...what a blessing!

May God cover your heart with warmth and sunshine, dear Friends.  Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

Taking a Walk -Postcard Friendship Friday #357

I was one of those brave Moms who homeschooled her children most of their school years.  It was a rewarding, yet difficult time in my life. I often wondered if I had done well enough.  I had such brilliant, amazing children.

They are still the loves of my life.

Happy Mother's Day dear Friends...I am SO blessed by my dear, precious, treasured children.  I pray this same blessing is yours.

Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

Mother's Love -Postcard Friendship Friday #310

Although the storm and stress of fate,
The bonds of life may strain, or sever.
The endless chain of Mother-love
Will bind the world forever.

What lovely words.  I have the world's most fantastic Mom.  She is such a lovely, talented, precious Friend.  I wish I would have known her better as a teenager--these days I treasure the beauty and value of my relationship with my Mother.  I am surrounded by her love and wonderful friendship.  I don't know what I would do without my darling Mum.  I am blessed to be her daughter.

She was one of the speakers at the retreat last weekend.  She is gifted in so many ways, writing, art, and speaking.  I didn't realize it, but one of her books was recently translated into Korean!

As  Mom spoke, I learned a lot I didn't know, and frequently found myself in tears.  So many ladies came up afterward to tell me how blessed they were to have heard her speak.  The entire weekend was incredible!

And so I say now--a little early--My dearest, darling Mumsie, happy Mother's Day!

Have a lovely day, dear Friends, and Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

Love of a Child -Postcard Friendship Friday #309

I posted this vintage postcard in 2010 and decided it was time to put it up again.  I own a 100 year old cookbook, which details all the things a woman was responsible to do in the late 1800's.

These amazing women tended a garden, grew their own food, milked the cow, made cloth and sewed clothing.  They made their own soap and cooked over a wood-stove.  All while watching over her children, teaching them as she went.  These are only a few things they had to do in the "olden days."  The author of the cookbook advises, "Be sure to sit down to do your chores, as much as is possible."  That is wonderful advice!

Yet, today the sentiment is true--children who's Mothers deeply love them are indeed blessed. I will always hold our own dear Mumsie in high esteem. She is beautiful, brave and kind.

Life is shorter than we think, dear Friends.  Take time out to hug your Mother and to love your children.

Happy Postcard Friendship Friday, dear Friends!

Taking a Dip With Mom -Postcard Friendship Friday #273

I remember when my children were young--they had much the same reaction to getting into the water as these youngsters.  I sure do like that vintage suit too--especially now that I'm older!  Too bad they don't make these swimsuits anymore!

We have record breaking heat in our little valley.  I'm so grateful for the river.  It is nice to be close enough to walk to the park and put my feet into the water.  Have a lovely summer, dear Friends.

Mom's Big Moment!

This is an old ad for Gibson Mother's Day Cards from years ago.  I love it.  The artist caught something so sweet and precious in this drawing.

Not to mention, I come from a family of Gibsons.  (grin)  The name Gibson is pretty special--whether on cards, guitars, artwork, or writing.   Happy Mother's Day, Mumsie, I love you!

So, to all the dear Moms out there, HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Mother's Nosegay

I love this sweet little card.  A daughter dreams of the smile she'll see on her Mother's face when she gives her this beautiful bouquet.  When one is a child, the smile on Mom's face is one of the most wonderful things in the world.

Happy Mother's Day everyone!

A Walk With Mom -Postcard Friendship Friday #167

As a small child, I remember walking with Mom.  We would go exploring--trekking through the woods, discovering log bridges someone had built over the creek in the Canyon.  I can still smell the cedar trees in warmth of summer--feel the crackling underbrush beneath my feet.

When I was all grown, Mom and I spoke for women's groups quite a bit.  I would visit her home and we would go over what we were going to say--then we would go for a walk.  How I treasured those times.

Then came the day my family and I moved next door.  For two years I had the wonderful privilege of walking with Mumsie every morning.  We became very close.  How grateful I am for her friendship and love.  She is still one of my very best friends.

These days, when Mom and I go walking--we walk arm in arm.  How I treasure walking with her this way.  I am so blessed by the love and prayers of my Mother.  She is an amazing woman. Through the years, she has taught me how to laugh and cry, how to journal and how to pray--and especially how to lean on our mighty God for strength.  I love you my darling Mumsie.  Thank you.  ((hugs))

Happy Mother's Day and Happy Postcard Friendship Friday everyone!

A Mother's Love

The old pictures of Mother and child are so dear and sweet.  With Mother's Day coming up Sunday, I just had to post this beauty of a postcard.

I am so grateful to my precious Mumsie.  She is one of my best friends.  I don't know what I would do without her in m life.  I am blessed to have such a wonderful Mother.  She is beautiful to my eyes, my heart and my life.

Have a lovely week and don't forget to spend time with your Mom and thank her for her love.

Rally Day Greeting

I love this postcard.  I remember when I would miss Sunday School when I was a little girl, we would receive postcards such as this.

This postcard was to invite parents to something called a "Rally Day service." I adore this drawing of Mother and baby.  Since Mother's Day is in a few weeks, I thought it would be fun to post.

Have a lovely day everyone!
