Blue Birds!

Isn't this card lovely? It is also from Grandma Jenny's collection.

I love blue birds. There has been a resurgence in the population of blue birds in our area...they were going extinct until some folks in our area took notice and worked on building them back.

When we were small, my siblings and I were on our way out of the canyon. We saw a interesting long pouch of moss lying in the middle of the road. I picked it up and three small blue birds flew out of it. It was a blue bird nest and by picking it up, I had probably saved the lives of the tiny birds within. It is a delightful moment I will never forget.

Kittens in a Basket

There was a series of these cards--several of which I found in Grammie's collection. As I recall she didn't particularly like cats, but she did love these pictures of mischievous little kittens. They are darling, aren't they?

Sleeping Beauty

Well, I'm a little late--HAPPY VALENTINES DAY! It is one of my favorite holidays. I love the romance and thought of it all.

DADDY UPDATE: Mumsie says Dad is doing much better. He gets to take his brace off to eat and rest a little. This will strengthen his neck muscles and stimulate healing of the broken bones. Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness and prayers. They mean so much to me and my family.

Basket of Hearts

This is another Valentine from my collection. The Valentines were sold by the sheet and you can see where someone carefully cut along the lines. These Valentines were probably printed sometime in the late 1940's.

I adore her face and that wonderful Basket of Hearts. It is hard to believe Valentines Day is less than a week away! Happy Valentines Day!

Victoria Plum Greets You

This is the cover to a writing tablet I loved as a young person. I liked it so much I saved it in a box of my favorite cards and postcards. I'm so glad I did--who would have known then, that I would be able to share these wonderful cards and vintage items online with all of you!

Have a marvelous week!

Night Time Prayers

This came from my Grandma Jenny's collection of cards. She loved little children--both in cards and figurines. Yesterday was particularly hard for me. The feeling of sadness will pass I know.

It is only that I miss all our yesterdays.

Violets and Cherubs

My darling Sissy Clytie gave this card to me last year. I treasure it for its beauty and whimsy. It isn't my birthday--I'm posting this in honor of the brave little violets blooming in my garden.

I'm sure Winter isn't done and we're due for an icy blast or two--I admit it--I admire their pluck!

Violets for My Sweetheart

This is a new addition to my "cyber" collection. I am posting this darling Valentine's Day postcard in honor of Springtime violets. I found a lovely clump of blooming violets in my garden this morning.

Spring is never far behind the purple violets. And there is nothing sweeter than the fragrance of a nosegay of springtime violets. Soon Johnny Jump Ups, Mayflowers and Trillium's will make their appearance.

Springtime is near!

A Valentine for Mother

This lovely old Valentine's Day Card must have been very precious to Grammie Jenny. She kept this card from her son, Lawrence, in a special place with other cards and notes she treasured.

How grateful I am for our lovely Grandmother. I'm so glad she saved these wonderful old cards. I miss the days we shared when I had the privilege of living in her basement as a young woman. I learned so much from her.
