The American Red Cross was founded today, May 21, in 1881. Inspired by the Red Cross in Switzerland, This one amazing woman campaigned for an American Red Cross society and for ratification of the Geneva Convention protecting the war-injured.
Clara Barton
Clara headed the Red Cross for 23 years, during which time it conducted its first domestic and overseas disaster relief efforts, aided the United States military during the Spanish-American War and campaigned successfully for the inclusion of peacetime relief work as part of the International Red Cross Movement.
Because of one woman's voice, over 100 years ago, the Red Cross continues to help people in crisis across the entire world.
Have a wonderful PFF!

Your card is beautiful as always, the story of Red Cross reminds me a lot about incidents happen in Thailand during this week.

Thank you for a reminder of this amazing woman. I wish I had a postcard to match this theme, but my entry is already up.
What a great bit of history, thanks for sharing!

Are those really locks of hair?!
Sorry about the last one from me - an error. What I had in mind for your card is the observation that this looks like a Christmas Seal - which it isn't, but it certainly would make a nice stamp!
I love the design on the card. Happy PFF!
The Red Cross does so much good work ... I appreciate them so much. It's funny how Lois did a Red Cross post just yesterday!
Great post on Clara Barton and the Red Cross, Beth! Mine's been up! Forgot to come over and sign up! Duh! :)
I'm glad to read about Clara Barton. And what a fabulous card. Great to have the juxtaposition of Santa Claus father Time and the Red Cross.
