A Sunny Greeting -Postcard Friendship Friday #498

So much is happening, I thought a cheery greeting was in order.  The small daffodils in my garden are bright and happy and have been blooming since mid-January.  The larger ones are beginning to bloom, just in time to bring joy to a world that seems turned upside down.

We are not allowed to travel unless it is an emergency.  Thankfully, I have my darling Mumsie here, so I'm not completely alone.  She's such a wonderful lady to have around.

Have a great weekend everyone, and Happy Postcard Friendship Friday.

How about a Ride? -Postcard Friendship Friday #449

I love the way the young man is looking at this gentle maiden.  However her companion the Dog seems a bit suspicious.  What a beautiful postcard.  I wonder if she WILL go for ride in that boat upon the lake.

I finally went to the doctor--looks like I have pneumonia.  Thankfully I may be over the worst of this soon.

Happy Postcard Friendship Friday and have a lovely weekend all you wonderful people out there!

Birds in Springtime -Postcard Friendship Friday #448

I love this postcard--bluebirds are my favorite bird.  I took this from my "cyber" collection, so there isn't a back to share with this one.

When I was a child bluebirds lived in the canyon.  These days the they can't be found there anymore.

I remember my siblings and I once found a bluebird nest lying on the old canyon road.  When we picked it up, three little bluebirds flew up and away into the trees.  I think I was about 11 years old.

One tiny bluebird came to visit my current home a couple of years ago--he decided to take a bath in the little pond next to the waterfall.  I was SO surprised to see the little fellow and felt I'd been blessed.

I am still ill.  If this doesn't get better, I'm heading to the doc.  Happy Postcard Friendship Friday and have a wonderful weekend, dear Friends.

A Joyful Easter

I am often inspired by these wonderful postcards from the past.  They just don't make them like this anymore!  This one is especially beautiful, with it's pussy willow border, blue forgetmenots and pink ribboned eggs.  The whole picture is graceful and lovely.

A joyful Easter to you all.

Welcome Easter Morning -Postcard Friendship Friday #400

It is hard to believe how quickly time is passing.  In just a few weeks, Easter will be upon us.  I love Spring, and it seems to have arrived here in the Willamette Valley...still, it is chilly.  I saw the daffodils hiding their faces from the sleet earlier today.

I adore drawings of flowers with faces...these dear faces are SO sweet and adorable, don't you think?

Happy Easter, dear Friends.  And Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

Greetings From Spring Valley -Postcard Friendship Friday #352

Greetings dear  Friends.  This beautiful postcard of white roses seemed perfect for today's blog. Did you know there is a certain language presented by flowers?  Books have been written about this.  According to the fascinating book Tussie Mussies, by Geraldine Adamich Laufer, in Victorian times, white roses carried the meaning of "unity, silence, keep my secret, I am worthy of you, love, respect and beauty."

I adore roses--my garden is filled with all colors and types of them.  June is when the roses begin to bloom.  I long for the lovely aroma of those lovely flowers.

Here in the beautiful Willamette Valley of Oregon, Spring has sprung with a vengeance!  Last week almost overnight, daffodils and purple crocus burst from the ground and all the fruit trees were suddenly covered with masses of pink and white blossoms.

This morning the sun is peering through the clouds and hope fills the air.  It is going to be a beautiful day. There's something about this time of year which melts the heart with joy. This will be my third Spring without the love of my life.  He liked to work outside this time of year--I miss the camaraderie we shared working in the yard together.  Sometimes when I am outside doing the work which must be done, I fancy my Beloved is there beside me.

And so, Greetings from my own dear Spring Valley to you, dear ones.  Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

Best Wishes Under Lamp Light

I love this card.  It came from my sweet Grammie.  It reminds me of her--delicate, sweet and a light in my life.  I am not sure where or when this card was printed, but it's elegant length, beautifully crafted flowers and detailed lamp are pure beauty to the eye.

Have a lovely day and treasure those people in life who inspire you to become a better person.

National Love Your Pet Day -Postcard Friendship Friday #108

I fell in love with this postcard long ago.  It is a part of my real-life collection.  The darling baby with those bouncing blond curls, reminds me of my own dear ones when they were small.  I adore the bunny, too--he seems to be enjoying the baby's great big, squashy hug.

Yesterday was National Love your Pet Day.  I thought this cutie would be perfect for both the holiday and for Postcard Friendship Friday!

Have a wonderful day wherever you are, everyone--whether it be snowing, sunny or rainy!

PS  Sorry about the mix up on LinkyTools this morning--I had PFF all set up to publish at midnight last night--but in doing so, somehow I put in the wrong dates so LinkyTools was closed.  It is open and ready for use now!  Thanks for your patience.

Baby Birdies -Guest Heart Thursday

We have had a birdfeeder out on the front porch.  The mama birdies bring the babies to the feeder, eat the food, then feed the little ones.  It is the most darling thing to watch.

If you look closely, you can see hearts in those apple blossom petals!

Daisy Bouquet in Heart Pot -Guest Heart Thursday

After a few days of sunshine the rain is back.  It feels cold, dank and wet.  I think we were spoiled--even last night it was a balmy 62 degrees!  A rather uncharacteristic Spring warming.  At least there are flowers everywhere.  Their bright colors brighten one's eyes as the rain steadily patters. This heart-shaped pot of Daisies seemed perfect for this week's Guest Heart Thursday!

We are to expect wind, more rain and maybe a thunderstorm or two today.  It should be quite exciting.  Or so I hope.  With that tiny taste of Spring--I'm ready for flowers and warmer weather.

Happy Guest Heart Thursday!

The Lilac Tree -Postcard Friendship Friday #149

The New Year is past and soon Winter will give way to Spring.  I have always loved  lilac trees--this pretty lady seems to have the same feeling I do when I come across a lilac tree heavy with blooms, sending its heady fragrance into the air.  Ah, sweet Springtime!

Have a wonderful Winter--just remember Spring is just around the corner.

Ribbons and Daffodils

I love daffodils and Spring.  This postcard is a delight to my eyes.  What a creative idea to string ribbons and daffodils across the card.  There's something so rumpled, yet so graceful about this artist's work.

Have a lovely week everyone!

Springtime Blossoms - Pink Saturday

Here is another of our darling Grammie Jenny's cards. She loved Springtime with it's bevy of flowers. When we were small, my siblings and I liked to walk the well-worn path, across the field to Grandma's house. We would play for hours in her spacious yard. She sometimes let us help plant flowers and she told us stories about them.

I love this card. There are clouds of pink blossoms adorning the trees along the streets in my town. Spring is here! And alas, so is the rain. They seem to walk hand in hand, those two! Have a perfectly marvelous Pink Saturday

Ah, 'Tis the Harpist!

I adore art Nouveau. This is an illustration I simply could not resist. I love this style--in fact, I yearn to draw this way. There is something so graceful, so lovely about the flowers, hair and women of this period, which fascinates me.

Art Nouveau features "organic, especially floral and other plant-inspired motifs, as well as highly-stylized, flowing curvilinear forms." Ah, inspiration, indeed!
