Little Fireman -Postcard Friendship Friday #355

This is a postcard I put up a little over eight years ago.  I'm so busy I hadn't had the time to acquire a postcard for this week, so I'm re-posting it!

I admired the artist who drew this amazing little boy so much, my darling Sissy gave me the original boxed set from her extensive collection of cards. I felt so honored--They are just wonderful.  This postcard is three times as big as a normal one!

A warm and friendly "Hi" from me -- Thinkin' and wonderin' how you be!  Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

Lady's Slipper - Sunday Scans

This beautiful card is from our Grandma Jenny's collection!   She loved flowers of all kinds--including the Lady's Slipper.

I love lady's slippers.  In our childhood, the only Lady's Slipper we  found growing in our woods was so rare, it stuck in my memory as a gloriously magical moment.  We found her delicate blooms at the top of the canyon in a meadow of moss where the wild hazelnut and fragrant fir trees tangled a green roof overhead.  Once her blooms had faded we never saw her again.  I remember going back year after year to see if she'd returned.  She never did.

Years later, my family and I stayed with a dear couple in the mountains of Northern California.  The woods there were filled with lady's slippers.  What a beautiful, magical place to walk--one had to be careful of one's footsteps there were so many of these wonderful flowers.  Someday I shall paint that whimsical wooded forest.

Al's Photography Blog, by our good friend Al, hosts "Sunday Scans" each week.  I have so enjoyed this meme!  Sunday Scans is a place for all things scanned.  So pick up your old photo albums, ephemera, postcards, artwork, ANYTHING which can be scanned and join in the fun!

Springtime Blossoms - Pink Saturday

Here is another of our darling Grammie Jenny's cards. She loved Springtime with it's bevy of flowers. When we were small, my siblings and I liked to walk the well-worn path, across the field to Grandma's house. We would play for hours in her spacious yard. She sometimes let us help plant flowers and she told us stories about them.

I love this card. There are clouds of pink blossoms adorning the trees along the streets in my town. Spring is here! And alas, so is the rain. They seem to walk hand in hand, those two! Have a perfectly marvelous Pink Saturday

Thinking of You, my Friend

With the New Year looming closer, I am reminded of the treasure of friendship. True and real friends are VERY hard to find. When one finds such a precious gift--one cultivates it.

This wonderful card is another from our Grammie Jenny's collection. It was sent by her lifetime friend Ruth. Reading the notes and cards Ruth sent, I see the beauty of a loyal friend. A sister who never took her friend for granted, cultivating their friendship like a flower garden.

So dear friends (you know who you are), I am counting YOU as one of the beautiful blessings in my life--you are indeed precious.

On Angel's Wings

I was going through another box of old cards I've saved over the years. When I pulled out the card illustrated with this little Angel of Hearts, I could not help but think about my sweet Sister Clytie and all of you who prayed for her. The miracle of what God did because of your prayers is such a blessing to the hearts of so many.

This precious piece of artwork is by Donald Zolan. He is an outanding artist, known for his wonderful illustrations of children and is one of my greatest inspirations.

A Garden Without Flowers

This is one of the wonderful cards our Grandma Jenny's best friend Ruth sent most likely in the late 1950's. This card touches my heart--I have such wonderful friends. Dear precious friends. I am so grateful for the fragrant friendship flowers in the garden of my life.

Life without friends would be like a garden without flowers.

So I have to ask--if you were a plant growing in a garden, what would you be? I'm thinking I might be a purple cauliflower combined with violets and a rose. . .

I'm Thinking of You

My Darling Mumsie, I am thinking of you today. You are one of the bravest most lovely people I know. You are not alone, my sweet little Mums. I love you more than words can say--and I know there are a lot of people out there who love you, who value you, and who care about you.

I am so grateful I have you for my Mother. You are wise and winsome. Even when you are sad you express yourself with elegance. You are wonderful. I love your heart.
