Love and Peace at Easter -Postcard Friendship Friday #353

I love the way artists of old used violets.  Violets are so pretty.  Just now they are springing up all over the yard.  I miss the yellow Johnny Jump-ups of my childhood.  With the clearing of the forests of my childhood--they are moistly gone, along with the trilliums, May flowers, sword fern, star flowers and the sweet shamrock.

But setting that aside, I hope you all have a lovely Easter.  It is a time to celebrate hope.

Easter Egg in Spring Bouquet - Postcard Friendship Friday #350

The next holiday to come along is Easter. Easter eggs and the fun to be had with them makes this a marvelous holiday. I also love the stories of Easter--along with old movies shown this time of year, such as The Ten Commandments and The Robe.

This delightful postcard fills my eyes with its beauty and whimsey.  Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

Bunnies and a Purple Egg

There is something about this darling cut out card, that intrigues me.  I love the flowers and that purple egg.  The bunnies are dear and sweet.  This Easter card makes me smile.  I really would love to see an egg that big--perhaps it is a dinosaur egg?  One could dream of such a thing.

Have a great rest of the week!

Something to Crow About -Postcard Friendship Friday#115

Fröhliche Ostern means Happy Easter in German.  This delightful postcard made me laugh.  Here is a boy carrying an egg that just bout beats him in size.  Wow!  That must be such a heavy load.  But what what hits my funny bone are those roosters--They are so happy over that egg--indeed, the size of that egg is certainly something to "crow about."

Fröhliche Ostern and Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

PS  I just realized today is National Siblings Day!  I put up a vintage postcard just a few days ago, honoring sisters.  Here's the link:  My Heart's Gift.  Happy Siblings Day, too!

Loving Easter Greetings -Guest Heart Thursady

This postcard is so graceful.  How an egg could be so balanced on a ribbon--well, that is a mystery to me.  Suffice it to say, this lovely drawing delights my eyes--and so I post it here on Guest Heart Thursday!  You can see there is a perfect heart in one of the petals of the flowers.

National Love Your Pet Day -Postcard Friendship Friday #108

I fell in love with this postcard long ago.  It is a part of my real-life collection.  The darling baby with those bouncing blond curls, reminds me of my own dear ones when they were small.  I adore the bunny, too--he seems to be enjoying the baby's great big, squashy hug.

Yesterday was National Love your Pet Day.  I thought this cutie would be perfect for both the holiday and for Postcard Friendship Friday!

Have a wonderful day wherever you are, everyone--whether it be snowing, sunny or rainy!

PS  Sorry about the mix up on LinkyTools this morning--I had PFF all set up to publish at midnight last night--but in doing so, somehow I put in the wrong dates so LinkyTools was closed.  It is open and ready for use now!  Thanks for your patience.

A Happy Easter -Postcard Friendship Friday #160

I fell in love with this delightful depiction of cats painting an Easter Egg.  Of course the proportions are all off, but how cute is this?!

I cannot send and egg to you
On this happy Easter Day.
For "chickee," as you see,
Broke through,
So I'm sending him
your way.

Happy Easter and a lovely Postcard Friendship Friday to you!

A Heart Happy Easter - Guest Heart Thursday

Do you see the leaf hearts on the vine decorating the little Egg house?  I love these old pictures of eggs.  This one is interesting.  I'm not sure why there is a brick wall behind that window--and the sheep looks like it has its head stuck in the ladder!  It is such a great postcard.

Happy Easter!

I love this card--the beauty of the flowers and then there's that egg. If you look closely you can see there's a little chick's beak cracking the shell.

New life, new growth, new beginnings. There is always hope!

HAPPY EASTER!

Egg-sactly Right! - Postcard Friendship Friday #3

There is a charming legend about coloring Easter Eggs. The story begins with Mary Magdalene. She was bringing cooked eggs to share with the other women at the tomb of Jesus. It is said the eggs in her basket miraculously turned brilliant red when she saw Jesus had risen from the dead.

Another version of the story has Mary visiting the Emperor of Rome to tell him the good news.

She greeted him with “Christ has risen,” whereupon the Emperor pointed to an egg on his table and replied, “Christ has no more risen than that egg is red.” As soon as he said this, the egg is said to have turned a lustrous red color.

Easter eggs are decorated in many ways. Some of these eggs are beyond beautiful. There is a process called the batik (wax resist) which is used to create intricate, brilliantly-colored eggs, the best-known of which is the Ukrainian pysanka. Then we have all have heard of Fabrege' eggs, which were exquisitely jewelled Easter eggs made for the Russian Imperial Court. Most of these creations had delicately hinged doors which opened to reveal hidden surprises such as clock-work birds, or miniature ships.

Happy Postcard Friendship Friday, and Happy Easter!
