Mishkin - Postcard Friendship Friday #273

This lovely lady caught my imagination. Her clothing and intricately woven hairdo are so beautifully elegant. I find myself wondering about her. Who was she? What was she thinking when the photo was taken? She seems so pensive and sad.

I hope your summer is going well.  It has been very busy and I am recovering from a summer cold.  We have had record breaking heat and no measurable rain since April.  It is a summer like none before.  Take care, sweet Friends, and God bless you.

Oh, Fairest of Creation

What a lovely postcard.  That little cherub looks like he's going to kiss this beautiful sleeping beauty.  Milton said it best, "O fairest of creation, last and best!"

She looks like one of the Gibson Girls in style and profile.  There is such grace and beauty to be found in the art of that time period.

Ah, 'Tis the Harpist!

I adore art Nouveau. This is an illustration I simply could not resist. I love this style--in fact, I yearn to draw this way. There is something so graceful, so lovely about the flowers, hair and women of this period, which fascinates me.

Art Nouveau features "organic, especially floral and other plant-inspired motifs, as well as highly-stylized, flowing curvilinear forms." Ah, inspiration, indeed!
