Happy Birthday Sissy!

As the eldest of six, I'm sure I gave my sweet younger Sis plenty of grief.  I was the oldest and I thought I knew a thing or two.  But she found ways of getting around her big sister.

Saturday mornings we were allowed to watch cartoons.  My brother and I would be watching cartoons.  Often Clytie wanted to watch something different--but of course, we wouldn't change the channel.

Her solution?  Sneaky little sister would pick a fight between Bro and I...  We would get into trouble, and be sent to our rooms.  Which left Sissy in control of the television!  Haha--I learned about that years later--and what a laugh we had!

It is my sweet sister Clytie's birthday today--she's 58 years old and one of my best friends.  I love her and am eternally blessed by her love and friendship.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SISSY!
YOU ARE AMAZING!

Happy Birthday Little Sister! -Postcard Friendship Friday #417

I remember the day my youngest sister came home.  She was so tiny with a head of dark hair, deep blue eyes and eyelashes so long they touched her perfectly drawn brows.  What a beautiful baby!  However, I was fourteen years old and as a teen, a newborn wasn't that interesting to me.

Yet,  as she grew we became very good friends.  I wrote songs about her, played with her, teased her and loved her.

She has a whimsical nature much like my own.  Today she turns 46 years old.  It is hard to believe so many years have passed since the day my parents brought home that sweet little girl.  I am grateful to the Lord for my sister.  She is one of my best buddies and is such a blessing in my life!

Have a wonderful weekend and Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

It was our darling sister Leigh's birthday yesterday. What a delightful wonderful woman she has become. She is one in a million!  I am so proud of her and I love her with all my heart.

Dressing Up -Postcard Friendship Friday #258

This wonderful old postcard reminds me so much of my sister Clytie and I when we were young. We did indeed dress the puppies in doll clothes, though I don't know if we ever actually were successful in any attempt to dress up a kitty cat!!

The little ones in our lives bring so much charm and joy.  I am so grateful for the joy of the children.

Have a lovely weekend, dear Friends--and Happy Postcard Friendship Friday.

Sisters -Postcard Friendship Friday #255

I first became acquainted with SissyDea from her blog, A Painted Garden.  We found one another in 2009.  Today you can find her wonderful digital artwork at Whimsey Asylum.  How quickly the years have flown, and how our lives have changed.  This beautiful postcard was from Deann's own dear Daddy.

What treasures are those lovely women we call sisters. Today I want to honor my sisters, both those who share my blood--and precious others who are sisters of my heart.  Sisters who, as they walk through the hardships life brings, perhaps unknowingly have been such inspirations to me.

I love you, my darling sisters! May God bless each of you with great joy, light and love today.  Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

Happy Birthday, Sissy! -Postcard Friendship Friday #119

I know this weekend is geared toward Mother's Day, but it is also my sister Clytie's birthday.  Because of that, today's postcard is a birthday greeting for my darling Sissy.

Sissy and I are only three and a half years apart.  We are best friends and I love her more than I can say.  She is not only my friend, but she's my prayer partner.  I count upon her wisdom in many things.  She inspires me, is a comfort to me and I adore her.  She is an amazingly gifted and talented woman.  I am so grateful to God for my sister. She is truly marvelous.

Please join me in wishing Clytie, Queen of Hearts, Happy Birthday today!!!  You can find her at Random Hearts.

You Inspire Me -Guest Heart Thursday

I was thinking about what a wonderful thing it is to have sisters.  Clytie has been an inspiration to me for many many years.  Years ago, when I found this beautiful postcard with the ornate "C" and the word Amor, it seemed to be a perfect fit for today's Guest Heart Thursday.   This will be the second time I've posted this particular postcard--but truly--it is perfect for my darling Sister.

Sissy, thank you for listening, for loving me--for being one of my greatest inspirations over the years.  I am so blessed to have you as my sister.  ((hugs))

Happy Guest Heart Thursday!

Angelic Helper -Postcard Friendship Friday #146

I adore this postcard--what a whimsical idea!  The angel is handing the little girl a handful of ornaments--will she lift the child up to place them upon the tree?  Her brother certainly wants to help--so cute with his arms held up--I wonder, though, if that angel isn't teasing him a bit?  Looking closer it may be she has a piece of chocolate candy in her hand?  What do you think?

Happy Postcard Friendship Friday, and Merry Christmas!

Hubby Update:  My darling is free of cancer.  The surgeon got it all.  We are rejoicing because we have a lot left of life to live together.  Thank you for your loving thoughts and powerful prayers.

*  DON'T FORGET:  When you submit a postcard, be sure to put a link back to this page.  You can copy and paste the PFF badge, which has the link embedded.  Thank you!

Happy Birthday, Sissy Boo

It is my darling Sister's birthday.  I am SO grateful to have Clytie in my life.  She has always been my hero, and in many ways, I am only a pale reflection.  She is a wonderful, amazing woman, who's talent and humor knows no bounds.

I am proud to call Clytie my sweet Sis.  Truly she is wise, loving and kind--with a heart which literally encompasses the entire world.  To wish Clytie a happy birthday, visit Sissy at Random Hearts.

Sissy Clytie is Home!

I am posting this lovely picture of a girl with flowers, in celebration of my darling Sister Clytie's release from the hospital.  God was protecting her.

As so many prayers and thoughts were being sent up on Clytie's behalf, the emergency room doctor got a bee in his bonnet.  Though the heart tests came back as normal and just a little high, he was still convinced there was a blockage in her heart and he would not give up looking.  He even asked for two-year old data from another hospital in order to find the problem.  Thank God!  Because of this doctor's persistence, Sissy is going to be fine.

Clytie had an angiogram yesterday morning, during which the actual blockage was discovered.  They cleared the vein and put in a stent.  I spent yesterday afternoon with Clytie in the hospital and had the wonderful privilege of picking her up and bringing her home today.

THANK YOU everyone for your thoughts and prayers.  I am convinced there was an angel hanging over that doctor's shoulder, telling him to look further, when the tests said something completely different than the truth.

You can visit Clytie to welcome her home, at Random Hearts.  She tells me she can hardly wait to go walking!!!  She looks so PINK!  lol

Sissy Clytie is in the Hospital

This morning I awoke with a start.  My eyes flew open and I sat straight up in bed.  I should call Sissy, I thought.  I was sure it was a bit too early, so I waited.

Not too long after that Mumsie called to let me know Sissy had been taken to the hospital.  She had been rushed to emergency in horrible pain.  She'd been having trouble with bad acid reflux--had gone into local emergency a week or so ago.  Tests came back inconclusive, so they sent her home with some meds for heartburn.

Turns out she has a blockage in her heart.  Tomorrow she goes in for an angiogram to find out where the blockage is, then they will put in a stint.  This is so frightening.  Sissy--darling Queen of Hearts--is beloved to so many people.  Clytie is heart of my heart.  I don't know what the world would be like without her in it.

I would appreciate your prayers for her complete and rapid recovery.  Please drop by and leave her a note on her found hearts blog, Random Hearts.  I know she will be so encouraged to hear your messages of encouragement.

I will keep you updated on how she is doing.

Beach Dreams

Sissy and I are off to the beach--though I don't think it will be as balmy as this--we're expecting snow down to the water's edge.  My poor husband will be "baching' it over the next few days.   I'm so looking forward to time with my darling little Sis.  See you next Tuesday!

Happy Birthday, Sissy!

It is a lovely day for Mother's Day--but this year there's another special celebration--this is the day my darling Sister Clytie was born.

I will never forget that mid-December day we almost lost her to a stroke.  The threat of losing Sissy, then her miraculous healing, changed everything.  I will never, EVER take her for granted again.  Every blessed day she is in this world is a treasure.

Clytie is not only my sister, but she one of my very best friends.  This extraordinary woman blesses everyone she meets with her laughter and humor, whimsical personality and her wonderful eye for hearts.  She has a gift of seeing beauty where no one else would.

I think it would be great fun if everyone hopped on over to her page to wish her a HAPPY BIRTHDAY today!  Let's all surprise her at Random Hearts!

For my Sister.

If I could, today I would come winging with a lovely rose to delight your morning.  I would bring a hot cup of fragrant honey water to soothe away your stresses.  I would lend a loving ear to your story.  I would give a warmful hug to your heart--and a happy giggle for your ears.  I would share a gleeful hop, skip and jump to lighten your feet.  I would sing the joy of childhood to you.  I would say I love you, my sweet Sis.  I'm praying for you.

And I do send all of these to you--Can you see them?  Do you hear it?  They're yours today, right this minute.

You Are My Sunshine

Way Back in the mid-1970's I received this delightfully funny card from my younger sister Clytie. It was entitled You Are My Sunshine. I loved it so much I kept it--and I'm glad I did.

The older I get, the more I realize sisters are wonderful gifts which fill one's life with beauty and sunshine.

Without sunshine one could not grow, smile or live. How grateful I am for sisters.

Happy Birthday, Sister...

Happy Birthday dear Sis o' Mine! (sigh) oh to be YOUR age again. (Grin) Remember when you gave me this card??? My turn to send it back. (snicker)

Then the inside reads, "No WONDER some people think we're twins!"

But on the serious side, dear Sissyboo--you are wonderful. There is something so precious about the relationship between sisters. I am VERY honored that you are mine. As children we played together. When we were teens we shared secrets, laughed, cried and fought together. As a young woman you prayed for me when I wandered into terrible danger. Your love and prayers saved my life. We were best friends, and we were in each other's weddings.

Then life and distance stole away the closeness we shared. But even so, I could always feel your heart, and I always knew you were there.

How precious that suddenly that special sister "thing" we have has grown so strong. I love you--I admire you so much.

There are so many things I like about you. Your ability to find quirky humor in just about anything, your wisdom, your kindness, and the beauty of your heart are amazing to me. I love the way you make me laugh. I like the way you see the world. I enjoy your ability to find odd things--like a bundle of brand new rinestone thongs along the road, or a box of frothy white slips. Who else but you would find such things??? You have an unusual gift of seeing, and this shows in your talent with the camera.

I am HONORED to have YOU as my Sissy. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

If any of you out there would like to meet my sis, this lovely lady, her name is Clytie and she has two blogs (you can click on them in my blog sidebar). Random Stuff and Random Hearts. You'll enjoy them, I promise!!!

And be SURE to wish her a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
