Purple Emperor Fairy -Postcard Friendship Friday #456
The fairy in this ad features the beauty of the Purple Emperor, which is the second largest butterfly in central Europe. The deep purple-blue shine on the wings of the male can only be seen from various angles and in bright light. The color shows up when light is refracted by ridges on the insect's wing scales.
Poulain is Fench for foal. Though the icon of the brand is usually a jumping foal, in this advertisement, they've used a whimsical little fairy.
This company has been around for a LONG time. Chocolat Poulain is one of the oldest chocolate brands in France. They are famous for their chocolate bars, both for eating and cooking. They also make a lovely chocolate drink mix called Poulain Orange product.
It all began as the dream of Victor-Auguste Poulain, who began the mass production of chocolate in 1848 in Blois, France. In 1893, he established Chocolat Poulain as a company.
In the mid-1800's, chocolate was considered to be the food of kings. Ahead of his time, Victor believed chocolate should be available to everyone. His company was innovative in industrializing the production of chocolate and in their widespread marketing campaigns targeting children and families.
In more modern history--Chocolat Poulain was the sponsor of the mountains classification in the 1975 Tour de France, when its distinctive polka dot jersey was introduced; the jersey's design was based on the candy's polka dotted wrapper. The company was bought by Cadbury Sweppes in 1988. It was sold to Kraft Food in 2010 and since 2012 belongs to Mondelez International.

Happy Mother's Day Weekend! -Postcard Friendship Friday #455
I found this darling postcard online. I couldn't resist posting it--such a whimsical idea. Can you imagine what a soft and fragrant place a rose would be for a nap? One might hope, however, that the baby wouldn't roll out--but perhaps the little fellow has wings?
I am blessed with a Mother who loved to tell us about the wee peoples of the forest. The faeries she introduced to us and their amazing adventures, still live on in my mind.
Mumsie will be 80 years old next weekend. She loves to work in her garden and still tells wonderful stories. It is hard to believe she's going to be that old--she looks like she's in her late 60's. She is beautiful and amazing--she has led an extraordinary life.
Happy Mother's Day dear ones--I pray this weekend is a special one!

Autumn Sprite -Postcard Friendship Friday #375
Hello, sweet Friends. I'm a little late getting this one posted. I apologize for that--it has been a very long weekend.
Fall is here with it's beautiful leaves and nostalgic air. I am looking forward to blue skies and crisp freezing mornings.
I am NOT, however, looking forward to winter. Unless it snows--which is rare here. We usually get a LOT of rain. However each moment is a gift and I am grateful for the beauty I see each day.
Happy Postcard Friendship Friday, and have a lovely weekend, dear ones. God is good.

The Daisy Fairy -Postcard Friendship Friday #363
My garden is burgeoning with flowers. My lawn is starred with tiny white and pink daisies. The large daisies are out too--tall, long-legged blooms, snaggling over the bird bath to wink at the cat sitting below.
As a little girl, I dreamed there were fairies in my garden--sometimes even now I think I see them from the corner of my eye. I've always had a whimsical way of seeing the world--so I wouldn't be a bit surprised to catch a real one hiding among the roses someday.
The sun is shining and the feeling of summer is in the air. Have a lovely weekend and Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

Cherry Fairy -Postcard Friendship Friday #344
Here is another of my favorites by Cicely Mary Barker--she is inspiring--her fairy children are so realistic! This little Cherry Fairy is especially dear--reminding me of all the happy, mischievous small boys I've taught and loved--who've given me cause to laugh with them over the years.I hope you are all having a great week. Thank you again for your patience. Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

Tulip Faery - Postcard Friendship Friday #326
This is another postcard I bought in Newberg, Ore., when I was young. I loved the idea of flower fairies! This whimsical rendition of tulip fairies is one of my favorites.I will be having surgery in about ten days. A little scary, but it will be a relief when it takes place. May God keep you close to His heart, dear Friends--Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

Carnation Faery -Postcard Friendship Friday #322
My peace and joy,
Their sunshine lend,
to Thee, my dearest
earthly Friend.
I adore carnations--there's something so cheerful about them. To gather a bouquet of them on the counter top is like having a bevy of little fairies sparkling merry smiles into the room.
I had the lovely opportunity to spend time with my little sis from Spokane, and my niece! They are adopted into my heart and family for always. Last night another friend and I went to our 40th High School reunion. It was so great to see so many people I haven't seen for so many years.
I hope you have a lovely weekend, sweet Friends! Blessings and smiles to you, dear ones. Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

Fairies Dancing -Postcard Friendship Friday #283
I've always loved this postcard, so I'm re-posting it! I have been incredibly busy this week--In fact, I've been gone for most of it. This summer I've been away more than I've been home. I'm so grateful for my trustworthy house sitters! So much to do and so little time. I bought this postcard when I was a teenager. I found it in the attic where I'd kept it safe in a keepsake box. The delicate colors and whimsical nature of this drawing have always delighted my heart.
As Fall commences, I find myself yearning for Spring and Summer. There is a long and dark winter ahead without my Beloved.
Years ago, Alan and I went for a walk through a forested park in the center of town. Behind a big fir tree he "found" a basket. He gave it to me and said we were going to look for treasure. (grin) What I didn't know, until years later, was that my sister and Alan's roommate had placed it there and were hiding behind a tree!
We found all sorts of treasures, even a real lightning bug--the first and only one I've ever seen in the Pacific Northwest. It was getting dark beneath the trees, when he stopped to kiss me.
Then he broke a long cylinder, which glowed green. "Close your eyes," he said with a grin. I did...when I opened them, a castle glowed out of the dark, complete with windows and parapets.
A closer look at the castle revealed a small golden box with my name on the lid. Inside I found an opal necklace. It was a beautiful, sweet moment I will never forget.
Such a thoughtful, loving man. The castle was in reality a craggy old stump--but in my heart and memory it was a faery castle, brought to life by a man who clearly loved me. I still have that little golden box with my name engraved on the top.
Have a great weekend, dear Friends. May God bless you with wonderful moments with the ones you love. Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

Long and Happy Days be Thine -Postcard Friendship Friday #282
This wonderful postcard is from my cyber collection. This lovely fairy obviously loves carnations, as do I. she is so beautifully whimsical. I adore fairytales and faeries. Someday I shall write my very own fairytale.
Never be thy shadow less,
Never fail thy cheerfulness;
And, whatever lot be mine.
Long and happy days be thine.
Have a great weekend, dear Friends. May God bless you with joy and laughter...strength, too. Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

The Fairy Prince -Postcard Friendship Friday #281
Here is a wonderful find from my attic! Years ago, I fell in love with the rich colors and whimsical overtones of this postcard. I bought it and put it in a pretty box with a collection of old postcards--all tied together with a fragile blue ribbon. The original painting is called "Sagoprinsen," or in English, "Fairy Prince." The artist John Bauer became best known for his pictures of fairy tales. He found inspiration for his "trolls" from the scenery around his native home.
The postcard was printed in Sweden in 1976.
Have a lovely weekend and Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

A Gift of Love -Guest Heart Thursday
I love this postcard--I was looking for a heart in the rose, just so I could post it for PFF! I found one, too--right where the fairy is sitting, there's a perfect petal heart. I would LOVE to play inside a rose the way this little fellow is--wouldn't that be fun?!
Have a lovely day!

All in a Tangle -Postcard Friendship Friday #121
I love bluebells--when I see them in my garden, I know Spring has arrived. The two floating bluebells held by the fairy couple appear to have become tangled. What a charming idea--bluebell balloons!
I am going to make this post short, as my husband is recovering from knee surgery and still requires a lot of care. Have a lovely day, everyone, and Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

Cherubs, Fairies and Four Leaf Clovers -Guest Heart Thursday
I know Valentine's Day is past, but I just HAD to share this postcard! Though it says "to my Valentine," it rather seems to be a combination of Valentine's Day and St. Patrick's Day, along with a smidgen of fairyland--just perfect for today's Guest Heart Thursday. As you can see--the clover leaves are shaped like hearts!

Halloween Fairies - Postcard Friendship Friday #137
Isn't this unusual vintage postcard just darling? I have never found a Halloween Faery before! It is the only one I could find.
Actually, from what I could find online, Halloween Fairies are a fairly new tradition and a charming idea.
Some say the Halloween Fairy is not a faery at all. It is said she might be a Banshee with a sweet tooth. When the wind blows and taps at the windowpane, it is the Halloween Fairy who would love to share a few goodies. Just like the Tooth Fairy, the Halloween Fairy leaves a present behind in exchange for a fistful of Halloween treats.
The kids awaken to play with their present and there's less candy around for them to consume. I really love this idea--I wish it had been around when my kids were small!
Have a lovely weekend, everyone!

Halloween Time - Postcard Friendship Friday #83
Forgive me for getting PFF up so late today. I have been feeling a bit under the weather.
I love this whimsical postcard--the poetry and artwork is just delightful!
I have always loved fairytales and fairies--however, in my research I discovered a scary tradition about fairies and goblins on Hallows Eve! It is whispered that in the hours between dusk and midnight, fairies and goblins go out to collect as many souls as they can.
To rescue an imprisoned soul, a person could collect the dust from beneath the feet of fairies and goblins, then throw it at these creatures--who would then would be obliged to release all the souls they held captive. Have you ever wondered what fairy dust was made of? Me too! Now we know!

Butterfly Rides
I am not sure where I came across this image--it has been in my cyber collection for many years. These days I credit and link back to where I find the images I love. But back in the early days I didn't realize it was an important part of sharing ephemera.
I know--this is a Christmas card, but I just couldn't resist putting it up today. Besides--does this look like a Christmas card to you? I was surprised.
I've been watching the graceful flight of the butterflies in my garden. In my mind's eye, I can see the faeries who ride on their backs. (grin) I'm sure they look just like this.
I know, I know...I have a GREAT imagination! Faeries--God's littlest angels.
Have a beautiful week everyone.

Shimmering - Sunday Scans
This is a card I received years ago. I love the way this fairy shimmers--the scan really doesn't do the card justice. You can see some of the wonderful detail when you click for the larger picture. I thought this to be the perfect thing for today's Sunday Scan!

Going Fishing?! - Pink Saturday
I love these old embossed postcards. This one, though a tad worn, is still lovely. At first glance I imagined the little cherub looked a bit like Agent Dana Scully on the old television show called the X-Files.
I laughed at the idea of this faery child fishing from atop a posy of roses. What do you suppose she thinks she'll catch? I wondered about the protective head gear--since this cherub, as with most cherubs--isn't wearing much of anything else. Then I thought of how uncomfortable it might be sitting there with er, no underpants.
Happy Pink Saturday to all. For more wonderful things in pink, visit Beverly at How Sweet The Sound!
