Hug an Australian Day -Postcard Friendship Friday #117

Today is Hug an Australian Day!  I have been a fan of Australia since I was nine years old, when we studied the country at length.  Someday I shall visit Australia.  I may not return home.  (grin)  Just kidding.

I'm not sure how long Hug an Australian Day has been around, but it is an actual copyrighted holiday!  It was created by the folks at Wellcat.

Have a lovely weekend mates, and Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

Happy Thanksgiving!

This is by far the strangest Thanksgiving postcard I've come across.  It is beautifully drawn with lovely colors and printing, but oddly enough, these two pioneer children seem to be frightened because of the arrows in those pumpkins.  The poetry doesn't seem go along with the picture either.  Perhaps the children are being protected by the hand of the Almighty?  What do you think?!

Under a Red Umbrella -Guest Heart Thursday

After weeks of sunshine it is stormy and grey today.  I didn't realize how much, as a native Oregonian, I have missed the clouds and rain!  It should be gone by tomorrow, but we've had some soakers already today.

I thought this postcard perfect for Guest Heart Thursday.  Truly it IS nice to have a sweetheart!

Mothers, Daughters and Sisters -Guest Heart Thursday

I've always loved photographs of this little girl.  From what I can gather, her Father was a photographer who loved to take pictures of his family.  At first I thought this photo was of the girl and her Mother.  As I looked closer--it seems, rather, that the young lady is her sister!  I also discovered a photo of her real Mother.

In light of my discovery, I changed the title and labels for this blog entry.

Perhaps the first postcard is of the dress the young lady wore for her "coming out."  There seems to be a story being told here--maybe of the younger girl admiring her sibling and thinking about what it will be like when SHE gets to wear a beautiful dress such as her sister does.  It's also perfect for the upcoming National  Siblings Day!  I love the way this girl's dress twirls and of course, there's a heart to be found.  I enhanced the one in her hair so you can see it a little better!

Two Worlds Collide

This is a drawing by one of the old masters.  I love the intensity of this incredible painting.  This inspires me.

I apologize for being a bit out of touch this summer.  It has been a very heavy time for me and for my family.  I thank those who have taken time to inquire.  There seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel now.

Best blessings to you all.

Best Friends - Postcard Friendship Friday #123

It was a lovely holiday here in the United States.  The Fourth of July is a celebration I look forward to almost as much as Christmas or Thanksgiving.

Friends and family all gathered around, laughing, playing games, watching the parade, eating good food.  Then walking down to the river's edge to await the fireworks display. Walking back home in a crowd of thousands, then watching traffic at a standstill while we set off our own fireworks, sit around the firepit, making sommores--it is a wonderful time.

But this year, something interesting happened--I was amidst a crowd of family and friends as the parade was passing by, when suddenly I felt as though I was surrounded by a little bubble of quiet clarity.  It was almost as though that moment was in slow motion.  A blip in time, so to speak...

I looked around--saw the faces of family I adore, friends I love--and I knew at that moment how blessed I was to have each and every one of them in my life.  I took that moment to thank God for these precious ones.

And not just for those I watched from my little bubble of peace.  I thank God for friends I have not met face to face.  I thank Him for unexpected friendship.

Have a lovely weekend sweet Friends!
