Today is special because this evening there will be a rare Blue Moon. You've heard the saying, "that happens once in a blue moon." The truth is, a blue moon isn't actually blue. It is the rare occurrence of two full moons in one month's time. I've always loved the idea of a blue moon--of course, the real explanation is a lot less romantic than what I imagined when I was young.
This wonderful old postcard expresses my youthful idea of a romantic Blue Moon.

That's a beautiful card, indeed.
Old folks say strange things happen when there is a blue moon but tonight, who would've thought that in my country (the Philippines), it would be an earthquake? I pray that there will be no major damage and the tsunami alert will be lifted.

I just learned about the real meaning behind the 'blue moon' tonight...wow! after 20 + years!
Thanks for the trivia and happy weekend.
Great minds think alike! But I didn't manage to find a moon card - yours is beautiful. :)
I learned about the "blue moon" several years ago - really a fun little piece of information. Can't imagine why it took so long to hear about it!
Have a good holiday weekend, Beth. Carol
