Apples in the Apple Tree -Postcard Friendship Friday #432

This is such a beautiful postcard.  I adore the whole idea of gathering apples into one's apron!  When I was a child I did just that and felt the romance of the moment.  This takes me back to those childhood memories of harvesting the winter apples, which were then stored for the colder months.

That amiable turkey looks like he wants one of those apples, don't you think?  What a friendly fellow he is!  Most turkeys are NOT that nice.

I hope you are having a wonderful week!  May God bless you with joy.  Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

A Hearty Thanksgiving Greeting -Postcard Friendship Friday #431

This is another postcard I found online through Card Cow.  For some reason I didn't download the back for you to view.  However I found this postcard so charming I am sharing it with you anyhow!

Notice the strength of this maiden's arms!  She holds a big pumpkin under one arm, while she gracefully grasps the stem of another giant.  Back in those days, women were very strong.  They had a lot more to do to make life work, than most of us do today.

A hearty Thanksgiving greeting to you and Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

Thanksgiving Greetings -Postcard Friendship Friday #194

I adore these vintage postcards featuring lovely Indian maidens sharing the bounty of the harvest.  Though I'm blond and green-eyed, I am a bit Native American.  Hence, I love to hear stories of the ancient peoples of America who gave of their knowledge and harvest to the early settlers.  Indeed, we all have much for which to be thankful.

Have a lovely day, and Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

Sincere Thanksgiving Greeting -Postcard Friendship Friday #143

I have always enjoyed vintage Thanksgiving postcards featuring beautiful Indian maidens--usually there's a turkey, corn, pumpkins and such included.  Since I have a few drops of Native American blood in my veins, I think these postcards are especially charming.  When the settlers arrived in the New World, the Indians helped them make it through the harsh winter.  I often wonder what it would have been like to see the land as the settlers saw it upon landing.  What a wild and beautiful place it must have been.

There are so many things for which to be thankful.  This was our first Thanksgiving without Daddy.  Though we all missed him, we had a beautiful time together as a family.  I thank you for your prayers for us--you have all been so kind and dear. Daddy flew away to heaven last Saturday evening.  He is with his beloved Savior now--safe, without struggle and out of pain.

God bless you all--and have a wonderful Thanksgiving Weekend.

I love this time of year, with its cooler temperatures, nostalgic feel and harvest celebrations.  But who knew this is the time when scarecrows dance?  I like the whimsical feel of this wonderful old postcard!
