Fat Cat on a Wire

I just had to post this. Talk about your social distancing technique!

These days we need a good laugh.  This wonderful piece is by an artist by the name of Andoledius.  I found it this morning in my cyber collection of humorous ephemera.

Enjoy!  Tee hee

A Girl and Her Cat

I have been traveling far from home over the past two weeks.  I spent time with my family--my sweet sis Wendy--in Spokane and my dear ones in Idaho.  What a wonderful time we had!  I'm SO grateful for my precious family. A loving family is a true blessing.

Now I'm home.  I was sure my little friend,  Toez the Polydactyl Cat, would be upset with me when I got back.  However, this time around something has changed.

She hasn't left my side since I arrived home, and was sleeping all over me last night. There hasn't been one hiss, nor has she given me her typical Judge Judy glare.  LOL

I have a feeling she missed me a LOT this time and perhaps she decided, instead of hissing and getting mad, that smothering her human with love and kindness might be the better idea.

LOL  It is SO good to be back home...and I am happy to see my girl.  Toez is a great little friend and companion.

Have a great weekend, sweet Friends!  :D

International Cat Day -Postcard Friendship Friday #419

Yes, this week, on August eighth, Cats were celebrated across the world.  According to statistics, cats are the most popular pet on earth--there are an estimated 500 million felines frolicking in homes everywhere.  So it isn't surprising that there are several holidays celebrating our feisty, furry little friends.

International Cat Day was celebrated for the fist time in 2002 by IFAW, the International Fund for Animal Welfare, among other animal rights groups.

A human loved by a cat has been shown to improve mental health and to relieve stress, anxiety and depression. I can attest to that personally.  Toez the Polydactyl Cat has often been a lifesaver--laughter on a dark day.

I hope you took time, if you are, er, owned by a cat, to roll out the red carpet!   Have a wonderful weekend and Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

Clinique Cheron

Isn't this a charming advertisement?  In the tradition of Art Nouveau, this graceful girl and her loving friends bring a smile to my face.

Today is the beginning of summer and time outside in the sun with our furred and feathered friends.  How grateful I am for their loving companionship.

Friday the 13th - Postcard Friendship Friday #111

Friday the 13th is said to be one of the unluckiest days of all.  I did some research on the historic origins of this day—but it appears no one seems to know exactly why this day is considered to be so unlucky—though there are plenty of interesting theories out there!

Some superstitious folks actually live in fear until the day is past.  Years ago, my darling husband started a Phobiologologist Club.  The way to become a member was to find a phobia word he'd never heard of, or to come up with a new phobia word which made him laugh!  The fear of Friday the 13th has been dubbed friggatriskaidekaphobia.  The word is a combination of Frigga -- the name of a Norse goddess for whom "Friday" is named and triskaidekaphobia meaning fear of the number thirteen.

It is interesting to note that in some cultures, Friday the 17th is considered to be far worse than Friday the 13th!  I guess it is all a matter of perspective.

Thank you dear ones, for all your thoughts and prayers over last week.  The blood tests ALL came back normal and other tests showed only one small cyst which they will be watching closely.  I go back for a mammogram every six months for awhile.  All that is left to be done is to visit a dermatologist specialist.  Once that is done, I will be home free.  Thanks again.

*  NOTE: You don't have to stick to the theme I choose each Friday. Just put up the postcards you love and tell us why you like them.

*  REMINDER: Comments and links which contain advertising and do not refer to any of the following; Postcard Friendship Friday, mailboxes, the Post office, postcards or the love of postcards, will be deleted.

International Left Hander's Day! - Happy Postcard Friday #24

Yes, it is Friday the Thirteenth--hence this hilarious postcard I found online sometime ago.  However it is also, happily, International Left Hander's Day!  This delightful holiday was first celebrated on August 13, 1976.  It was started by Lefthander's International.

Did you Know?

    * While many people are left handed, very few are 100% left handed. For example, many Left handers golf and bat right handed. On the other hand, there is a high percentage of righties who are 100% right-handed.
     * Sinistrophobia is the fear of left-handedness, or things on the left side.
    * Lefties are also called "southpaws."  The term was coined in baseball to describe a left handed pitcher.
    * Tuesdays are Lefties luck day.
    * Only about 10% of the population is left handed.
    * During the 1600's, people thought left handers were witches and warlocks.
    * It is believed that all polar bears are left handed.
    * There is a rumor octopi have but one right hand. Scientists are diligently studying this issue.
    * Right handed people operate in the left side of the brain. Left handed people use the right side. Therefore, only left handed people are in their right mind?

Lefthander's Slogan:  Everyone is born right-handed. Only the greatest overcome it.

I am ambidextrous! When I use chopsticks, or eat using utensils with my left hand, things actually taste different--suffice it to say, I think it may be true that Left Handers do indeed experience the world a little differently than the rest.

Happy International Left Hander's Day and Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

With All Good Wishes

This is a postcard from my "cyber" collection. I know--it's a bit early for Christmas, but these kittens are so cute! I know it is a Christmas postcard, but it is also nearing Halloween with all the strange lore of black cats.

I've collected figurines of black cats since I was a little girl. There is something so endearing about those expressive kitty eyes, glowing like amusing jewels, shining from a small black canvas.

Daddy Update: We were able to tear down the rotten addition to the back of my parent's home. All that is left is the floor--which is rather like a broad deck area. I was SO impressed with what my husband and our friend Gurn accomplished! How these amazing men were able to tear that monstrosity down by themselves, is quite beyond me--they're both heroes in my eyes!

My sister and I worked hard filling the dumpster (The guys helped with the really heavy stuff). We cleaned, bagged all kinds of stuff, sorted good wood from the bad, piled it accordingly. Sissy and I cleaned and swept, carried, lifted and piled stuff...It was a very LONG day.
.
The four of us accomplished more than we ever hoped for, or dreamed! Thank you for your good thoughts and prayers. It's miraculous to behold.
