Following In Father's Footsteps

Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there, who's kindness, fairness and love for their children has changed the world.

One little boy, following in the footsteps of a good and loving Father, will bring happiness to his own family someday.  His own Daddy is the one who can teach that boy how to become a good man.

I am grateful for my own Father, who's kindness and love made a HUGE difference in my own life.  I often hear stories of dads who are not good--and who treated their children awful.  To hear those stories breaks my heart.  I wish everyone could have had a Dad like mine.  He would have taken you all to his heart, too.

Happy Father's Day, dear ones.

Daddie -Postcard Friendship Friday #459

Happy Father's Day!  I found this postcard online--I found it to be unusual.  Most postcards from that era are for "Father" or "Dad."  Daddie is endearing.

I'm a Daddy's girl from way back--and this postcard warmed my heart.

Have a great weekend and a joyful Father's  Day to you!  Happy Postcard Friendship Friday, dear Friends!

To Dear Dad -Postcard Friendship Friday #458

The impact of a Father on the life of his children is long-lasting.  What a Father does makes a difference for all time, as his influence ripples down through generations.

I was blessed with a Dad who loved each of us with all his heart.  I miss him.  I remember how proud he was of me and my family.  He was proud of all of us.

Happy Father's Day and  Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

Love to Father -Postcard Friendship Friday #457

Father's Day is in June.  I was blessed to have a wonderful Daddy who loved me and my siblings with all his heart.  He flew away to heaven almost seven years ago.  I still miss Dad.

Dad taught us about unconditional love--it didn't matter what awful thing we might have done--his love was always there.  Because of Daddy, I understand the heart of God the Father.  He is tender and loving--but firm and strong, just like my own precious Father.

"As a father is kind to his children, so the LORD is kind to those who honor him."  ~Psalm 103:13  I am grateful to the Lord for dear Dad--who by his example taught us who God is.

Happy Postcard Friendship Friday, dear Friends--and Happy Father's Day!

Who would Not be a Father? -Postcard Friendship Friday #412

A loving Father is not only a blessing to his own family, but he is a blessing to the entire world.  His caring actions ripple out through his children, his children's children, his children's children's children...down through the ages.

I am grateful to have had a wonderful Father.  He was brave, gentle and strong and loved to laugh.  He provided for our needs and He was a good man who helped strangers and always knew exactly what to say.  He told imaginative stories that still live in my heart to this day.

He was an artist--you can find tiny sketches in his Bible, just like me.  I am the eldest of six.  Daddy loved all of us so.  Each of us had a special bond with him.   I was in trouble he knew it instinctively--and the same was true of me.  Dad was our hero, and he taught us unconditional love.

Happy Father's Day, dear Friends, and Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!  Thank you for dropping by.  Your visits encourage my heart.

PS:  I just went through the comments side--where you look up comments to be moderated--and I found a slew of wonderful things from all of you.  I didn't realize there would be comments I needed to look at!  Please forgive me for putting them up so late!  I appreciate each and every one of your comments.

Who Would Not Be a Father -Postcard Friendship Friday #362

Happy Father's Day to all those wonderful Dads out there. Today I miss my own dear Daddy who flew away to heaven almost four years ago.  I know my precious children are missing their Dad today, too. My Beloved was a good Daddy.

Have a blessed Father's Day--enjoy time with your Dad.  You never know how much time you have left--and you'll never regret time spent together.

Happy Postcard Friendship Friday, dear Friends.

To my Dear Father -Postcard Friendship Friday #360

Father's Day will soon be here.  It is a hard day for my children and for me--because we share the sorrow of loosing our Daddys.  It is astounding to share that kind of sorrow with one's children...  My Dad flew to heaven a little over four years ago.  Their Daddy passed on two and a half years ago.

My Father was a wonderful man.  He was fair and strong, gentle and loving.  It is said women often marry someone like their Father--I did.  Alan was a dear and precious Daddy who generously loved his children more than himself.  In this, I have been doubly blessed.

Our tradition now, is to get the family together to reminisce and to laugh together.  We eat good food, play lots of music and tell stories.  It is beautiful, sweet and yet achingly sad.  Isn't it amazing how we can share our sorrows and are the better for it?

Happy Father's Day dear ones, and Happy Postcard Friendship Friday.

To Our Dear Fathers -Postcard Friendship Friday #123

This year, Father's Day will be on June 15th.  I am deeply grateful to God for giving me my Father.  Dad taught us about God the Father--Daddy's gentleness, kindness, strength and unconditional love showed us God's loving face.  We were greatly blessed to have had such a good Father. I miss him, more than I can put into mere words.

I thank God for my husband, who has been, and continues to be a wonderful Father to our children.  The relationship between Dads and their children is so important.  There is much to be learned from a loving Father.

As I think about it--I am incredibly thankful to Our Creator for all Dads who love and provide for  their children.

Note:  Google seems to be having troubles the past few weeks.  I haven't been able to comment on your links off and on.  So, I'm taking a moment here to thank everyone who participated in Postcard Friendship Friday this week!  As soon as Google gets the problem fixed, I'll be commenting on your blogs!  Have a lovely weekend.

Daddy

This picture from my "cyber" collection seemed to fit my feelings this morning. When I was small I remember curling up in Dad's strong arms next to his heart. I felt so safe. Poignant.

Yesterday afternoon our parents were involved in a terrible accident. They had left our place after spending the weekend with us. Neither Mom nor Dad have any idea what happened. No other cars were involved

Mom is terribly shaken, badly bumped and bruised, but she is alright. Dad is in his early 80's and has become increasingly frail. However, he came through surgery well. Dad has a fractured place in his neck, but the injury is such that if his neck is kept perfectly still he will heal up as good as new. The surgery involved a wound vac, which helped to close the huge area of skin on top of his head which had been sliced away from his skull.

I would appreciate your prayers and good thoughts for Dad and Mom, Clytie and me, and for our family. This comes close to being one of the worst times of my life. Strange how life can completely change in one moment.
