My Fond Greetings

Here is yet another postcard from my "cyber" collection. I love the studied profusion and off kilter balance of this lovely flower heart.  To me, this looks like a harp.

I am in awe of these artists of old, who created such beautiful postcards.  They inspire me.

Have a lovely week!

To Wish You Joy -Postcard Friendship Friday #125

Here in the Willamette Valley of Oregon, we have had such a beautiful Spring and now an early Summer.  Normally this time of year, it is like an underwater garden outside.  This year has been rather special.  Such incredibly beautiful weather.  The very air itself seems to rejoice.  These roses seem to embody that happiness.

Have a lovely day, everyone.  Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

NOTE:  Postcard Friendship Friday was designed so folks who love postcards can share their favorites.  If your link does not contain a postcard, is not related to post offices, mail, etc., I will delete the link.  This has happened a couple of times now.  It always makes me feel sad to delete a link--especially if your blog is charming.  However, the fact remains--postcard Friendship Friday celebrates postcards!  Please respect this fact.  Thank you!

A Gift of Love -Guest Heart Thursday

I love the roses and the immediate appeal to the eye is just wonderful.  However, I am mystified as to why this little cherub would be roasting two hearts over a fire in an anvil!  Perhaps the idea is to set two hearts on fire?  Maybe that circle upon which the hearts are hanging--is a wedding ring?!

Any ideas?  (grin)  Have a lovely day, and Happy Guest Heart Thursday!

Gathering Hearts -Guest Heart Thursday

Gathering hearts--what a delightful idea!  I especially love her dress--she is even showing her ankles.  Scandelous!  That hat is especially wonderful--even with the bow holding it in place, I wonder how she is able to keep it on her head?

Have a lovely day and Happy Guest Heart Thursday!

Red Roses -Guest Heart Thursday

I love this postcard.  The red roses in her arms match the flawless blush in her cheeks.  Ah, youth!  And look at those dimples!  There's something utterly lovely about this painting.  And yes, there are plenty of hearts to be found in that gorgeous rose red bouquet.

Roses For Dad -Guest Heart Thursday

I've been missing Dad a lot this past week.  Sorrow sweeps over me at the strangest moments.  This is our first spring without him.  Somehow the daffodils as they nod their smiling faces touch me.  I remember Dad's delight in the flowers.

Since this is Guest Heart Thursday, I wanted to include a heart.  I found a scan of a heart card I sent to Mumsie years ago.  Sissy sent a copy to me and I'm sharing it with you today.  I miss Dad and there are sometimes I want to fly  home and hug the daylights out of my Mums.  We have been so blessed to have such great parents.  Have a lovely day, everyone.

Valentine Roses

I was out walking a yesterday and happened upon a bevy of roses.  Roses in January have a special significance for me and my family.  For birthdays, rather than decorating with frosting, my family used real flowers.

Daddy's birthday came in mid-January--to find flowers that time of year was a true challenge.  Since Dad's nickname was "Bud," it became a tradition to seek out a January rosebud for his birthday cake.  I can't remember a year when we didn't find one.

When I saw those roses, so crisp and pretty, tears came to my eyes.  Happy Birthday, dearest Daddy and Happy Valentine's Day in heaven.

Bedewed Roses - Guest Heart Thursday

This is the 500th post since I started blogging in 2008!  It's hard to believe that much time has gone by.  Here is another Rose by one of my favorite artists--C. Klein.  I see hearts in the petals of the roses, and in the leaves below.  Just an exquisitely inspiring piece of artwork.
