Round John Virgin -Postcard Friendship Friday #386
This wonderful vintage postcard brings back so many memories of the old nativity set I loved as a child, which still graces the home of my sweet Mumsie.
In our growing up years, each Christmas Mom would write a play. Christmas Eve, I and my five siblings would perform for neighbors, friends and family. As a part of the drama we would sing Silent Night. It was our favorite Christmas song.
Then one late evening, our youngest brother, who was around four years old, asked Mom, "Who is Round John Virgin?" Which, of course, sent us into transports of laughter.
Since that long ago Christmas day, a little round tin man, who goes by the name of Round John Virgin, sits next to Joseph, Mary and the Christ Child. I still giggle a bit over that wonderful old memory.

May Love Light Your Halloween Lantern! -Postcard Friendship Friday #330
I posted this lovely little postcard in 2010. I have been so busy this past week that I'm reposting it. It was is a first to find pumpkins and cherubs together! I had never seen that before or since. The idea still hits my funny bone. These two little fellows look like they are up to something, don't you think?
This weekend will be a poignant time for me. This coming Sunday will be the two-year anniversary of my Beloved's home-going. Some days it seems as though he left just yesterday, yet other times it is as though he has been gone for the longest time. I miss him.
Grief is like the ocean--there are storms of tears--then moments when the waves sparkle in the sunshine. I will always, always be thankful for the great adventure my husband and I shared. What an unusual life I have led!
That adventure continues...I walk hand in hand with the Creator Who loves me, I walk through the valley of shadows, I drink of cool refreshing waters. I sit with Him in the sunshine, laugh and weep with Him in the rain... I am grateful for His Presence here with me. He is my Friend.

I apologize once more for my lateness in putting this up. This weekend has been a hard one for me--My first Valentine's Day, without my beloved. I'm sure he knows how much I love him--and I know I will see him again one day.
In the meantime, I thank God for the wonderful years we had together.

Potted Hearts -Guest Heart Thursday
I had a lovely time with my friend, who came to spend Wednesday night and Thursday with me. What a wonderful time we had! We walked, talked, laughed...ah, we had SO much fun. She and I also worked in the garden for over two hours. Wow! It looks SO lovely.
I thought this funny postcard, with cherubs and heart flowers was perfect for Guest Heart Thursday--especially after a lovely afternoon of gardening with my darling Friend.

Small Cherub Sing-Along
This is a card in which our Grandmother delighted. Since most of the United States is buried in snow and freezing temperatures, I thought I'd put this up to cheer those caught in those freezing temperatures! And who doesn't like cherubs, candles, birdies and a bit of a sing along?
Have a beautiful week, dear friends. May God's song of joy permeate the cold of winter.

Captured Hearts
Looks like Cupid has been busy--he and his friends look pretty proud of themselves. I believe, from the expression on their faces, that Cupid is in the middle--obviously the ringleader and full of mischief.
I wonder who lost their hearts to this band of cherubs. And where are they taking them? One can only speculate.
Happy Valentines Day!

Heart Hunt -Postcard Friendship Friday #150
I love Valentine's Day. It is one of my favorite holidays--rich in history, romance, art, song and stories. My collection of Valentine's Day cards started years ago, when I was at an estate sale in my home town and bought an old catalog into which a child had pasted all the Valentines he had received over the years. What a find! Since then my collection has grown to include many beautiful vintage cards covering all kinds of holidays and sentiments.
I especially loved this postcard with these cute little cherubic heart hunters. I wonder what kind of bird laid this amazing clutch of heart shaped eggs? What do you think?
Have a lovely day everyone.

Angelic Visitors -Postcard Friendship Friday #147
I love the soft amber tones of this beautiful vintage postcard. I especially like the little angel holding the tree, and the tiny face of a child peeking from the upper window of the house. There's a darling little birdie perched up there, too. I also noted foot prints in the now--I wonder what, or who made them?
Merry Christmas and many prayers for a blessed new year to all of you dear Friends.

Violets and Cherubs
My darling Sissy Clytie gave this card to me last year. I treasure it for its beauty and whimsy. It isn't my birthday--I'm posting this in honor of the brave little violets blooming in my garden.I'm sure Winter isn't done and we're due for an icy blast or two--I admit it--I admire their pluck!

Good Wishes -Postcard Friendship Friday
This whimsical postcard is a part of my cyber postcard-collection. Many and much thanks to our friend Pearl for her generosity! I am not sure about cherubs cooking Thanksgiving dinner in the first place--it seems they might trip on those darling chef's gowns and dump that heavy turkey--and what IS that big red thing atop the turkey? Perhaps a rose??? (grin) Your guess is as good as mine!
Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

First Anniversary--a Humdinger
I just love this card! It was a gift from my darling Sissy, who's glorious card collection is incredibly wonderful and extensive.
This card actually doesn't have anything about a humdinger in it, only that with those cuties on the bell dinger--the name fit somehow.
I remember our first anniversary--we walked beside the thrashing sea, held hands, and looked deeply into one another's eyes...after 26 years, we still saunter in the sand beside the ocean. We hold hands and smile at one another. Best of all, we often laugh together. I think laughter is the spice that keeps marriage fresh.
