I was cleaning out my sewing machine desk, and found a whole bunch of old, odd and fascinating items, including this wonderful set of Gripper Snap Fasteners. I was so taken by the illustrations of the children on this package. I love the look on those little one's faces! Whoever this artist is--he or she has captured the essence of childhood here.
I included the back of the item, too. Reading all that fine print is kind of fun.
Does anyone know what "Play Togs" are? I have no idea when or where these were sold, or the history behind them--if anyone out there can tell me more, I'd love to hear from you!

The artist? I don't know either, but he (or she) did a remarkable job of selling gripper snappers. I'd have bought 'em for the kids!

I think "togs" is just another word for clothes and just refers to everyday outfits the little kiddies would play in - play clothes. Love the illustrations, also, and that certainly looks like something from the era when I was raising my little kids. All the little play suits, shorts, etc., had gripper snappers so that you could change the diapers which, by the way, were cloth. I didn't get an automatic washer and dryer until after my kids were out of diapers. Laundry would have been a snap with the automatics. We have so many conveniences to save time and people still don't have any! A whole new world, but I don't want to get rid of most of the new stuff! :-) Carol
I'm in agreement with Funoldhag - I've always heard "togs" referred to as clothes. So it would be "play clothes" being referred to. I think. What an adorable piece of history to find in your sewing stuff! I love it!
