As Days Unfold -Postcard Friendship Friday #339
Here is a postcard sent to me in the 1990's. It came adorned with this sweet note from our beloved Grandma Jenny. I miss her so much. Milly was Grandpa's half sister and he loved her dearly. Her things were treasured--so to have something of hers is especially precious.
The poem on the card is printed on a delicate silken patch. The flowers are embossed. I think it is a lot older than Grammie thought, even then--from my research this postcard is more than likely over 100 years old.
A Happy New Year to each and every one of you dear ones and Happy Postcard Friendship Friday.

A Great Light -Postcard Friendship Friday #338
"...The people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death, a Light has dawned." Matthew 4:16
Those words give me great hope--especially with the unrest in the world around us. Hope is a good thing--maybe even the best of things.
Merry Christmas sweet Friends. May God bless you with light and hope this Christmas Holiday and Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

Kind Hearts Unite -Postcard Friendship Friday #335
I apologize for getting this up so late in the season. It has been a tremendously difficult time for me and my family. I didn't realize the second year of grief would be so difficult during the holidays this time around. It is a long journey I am on--a journey to joy.
...Weeping may last for the night,
But joy comes in the morning...
You have turned for me my mourning into dancing;
You have loosed my sackcloth
And clothed me with gladness,
You have loosed my sackcloth
And clothed me with gladness,
That my heart may sing your praise and not be silent.
O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever!
~Psalm 30
God bless you and I pray your Christmas is a blessed one.
When I remember Christmas with my brothers and sisters--my heart is made glad. Those long ago days--how I wish I could go back there sometimes.

Girl, Grapes and the Turkey! -Postcard Friendship Friday #334
I apologize for not getting this up yesterday--I was having a sweet time of thanksgiving with my Mumsie. I am so glad she is here on this earth--she is a precious blessing to me. I thank the Lord for her.
There is so much for which to be thankful--I am glad we celebrate a day of Thanksgiving here in America--steeped in our history, it means a lot to all Americans.
Christmas is just around the corner--it is a time when we celebrate God's gift to mankind! I am so looking forward to the holiday this year...though I will always miss sharing it with my Beloved, Dad and my sweet little brother Dow.
Have a lovely holiday season, dear Friends. Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

Blue Butterfly -Postcard Friendship Friday #333
This beautifully embossed postcard was given to me by my dear Friend Theresa. Last Christmas she gave me a bag full of envelopes. Each was labeled with things like, "If you are having a hard day," "When you are sad," and "Here's a Smile for Today." I have treasured these envelopes--opening them one by one--only when I needed them most.
Yesterday was the four-year anniversary of my precious Daddy's passing into Heaven. We call it his Heaven Day. I was my Dad's eldest and a Daddy's girl. I miss him dreadfully and I was having a really really bad day. So I opened one of those envelopes and was blessed with such hope and sweetness--not only by the exquisite beauty of the postcard, but by the note she enclosed with it.
"Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you."
~1 Peter 5:7, The Bible
You are in my prayers.
What a dear blessing, to be reminded of the gift of prayer which surrounds me and to think upon the beauty and kindness of Him Who cares for me. He is the God who understands my heart--who knows me better than anyone. My Lord--my Shepherd, my Friend.
Have a lovely weekend, sweet Friends. May you see sparkles of blessings throughout each day, and Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

Thank you for Your Service -Postcard Friendship Friday #332
My sister Clytie has done a lot of study in the genealogy of our family. She has discovered through both sides of our family, every generation of our family has fought for our freedom in one way or another. Their stories of loyalty, honesty and integrity touches my heart. Recently at a family reunion, I saw first-hand the helmet and uniform of one of our relatives who fought in WW1. It was a poignant moment.
Today in America, we honor our brave Veterans. I remember my Dad thoughtfully telling me that the one thing which kept him going through those months as a prisoner of war in Nazi Germany, was the knowledge he fought for family, country and flag--and for Freedom. He could not stand the thought of anyone being oppressed and fought for the freedom of others as well.
God bless all of our veterans--those brave men and women who have sacrificed so much for their country, family and freedom.
May God bless you this Holiday season, dear Friends. I can't believe how close Christmas is...where did the time go? :D

Thanksgiving Menu -Postcard Friendship Friday #331
It hardly seems possible that Thanksgiving here in the United States is at the end of this month. Seems the older I get, the more quickly time passes by. I just don't know where the time has flown--or how it flew by so quickly
This old postcard is so sweet--I adore the chef's hat and that spangle-eyed turkey. The intricate designs around the feet of girl and fowl are beautiful! And that colorful pudding she holds above her head (eeeek!) looks ravishing. (grin)
I adore this Thanksgiving menu. "Good Luck, success, riches garnished with good health, long life la spirit, consolation." However, there's a couple other entree's I'd like to add, good friends and family. Though my Beloved is not here--we still have so much, for which to be thankful this Holiday season.
May God bless you this Holiday season, dear Friends. There are sparkles of joy everywhere.

May Love Light Your Halloween Lantern! -Postcard Friendship Friday #330
I posted this lovely little postcard in 2010. I have been so busy this past week that I'm reposting it. It was is a first to find pumpkins and cherubs together! I had never seen that before or since. The idea still hits my funny bone. These two little fellows look like they are up to something, don't you think?
This weekend will be a poignant time for me. This coming Sunday will be the two-year anniversary of my Beloved's home-going. Some days it seems as though he left just yesterday, yet other times it is as though he has been gone for the longest time. I miss him.
Grief is like the ocean--there are storms of tears--then moments when the waves sparkle in the sunshine. I will always, always be thankful for the great adventure my husband and I shared. What an unusual life I have led!
That adventure continues...I walk hand in hand with the Creator Who loves me, I walk through the valley of shadows, I drink of cool refreshing waters. I sit with Him in the sunshine, laugh and weep with Him in the rain... I am grateful for His Presence here with me. He is my Friend.

Pumpkin Queen -Postcard Friendship Friday #329
Isn't this a lovely blast from the past? I like this lady's dress and the vibrant fall colors in this postcard. Those pumpkins seem to think she's pretty special, too.
I think I've posted this one before. I decided to add it in today, because this is a childhood dream of mine. I loved the idea of living in a pumpkin house--a little place with pretty round windows, all my very own. As the eldest of six, space of one's own was hard to find sometimes. Ah, but it was great fun to be a part of such a wonderful big family.
Have a great week, everyone, and Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!

I LOVE my Jewels
I have NO idea why this lady is kneeling on the rug ecstatically clutching that bit of jewelry as though it were her long-lost love . . . but it is actually kind of funny.
I am re-posting this vintage postcard. I recently came upon it and between the postcard and the comment, I had a really good laugh this morning. Heehee
I am doing very well recovering from my surgery. I no longer need the walker and only use the cane when I'm going outside! I am SO happy about that!
Have a lovely week, dear Friends. It is nice to take time out to laugh, isn't it? LOL

Best Wishes, Forgetmenots and Doves -Postcard Friendship Friday #328
Hello, sweet Friends. I apologize for being late this week, but it is still a chore to sit for very long in front of the computer and I am just now getting caught up on a lot of things.
I had hip replacement surgery a month ago, and have been steadily regaining my health. I have graduated from using a walker, to a cane, and I am actually able to drive now.
It has been less than two months since I first discovered the need for surgery. These past few months have testimony of the miracles of God's loving provision and care.
Thank you, those of you who prayed for me. I am still in awe of His perfect timing. I am SO grateful to God for you. May our Mighty Creator bless you, dear ones. Happy Postcard Friendship Friday!
