This year Memorial Day, which is on Monday, has a special sad poignant feel about it. This is our first Memorial Day without Dad, who was a hero of World War 2. His stories of courage and perseverance will always be with us.
So many good men and women have died, fighting for Freedom. How I wish I could personally thank each of these brave warriors for their sacrifice. And not just American soldiers, but other brave soldiers who fought and died for their countries. The cost of Freedom is greater than anyone can say in words.
And so I say, "Thank you."
* LINKING UP: You can put your link in any time between now and next Thursday. PFF is open for the entire week!
* BADGE: When you submit a postcard, be sure to put a link back to this page. You can copy and paste the PFF badge, which has the link embedded. Thank you!
* THEMES: You don't have to stick to the theme I choose each Friday. Just put up the postcards you love and tell us why you like them.
* REMINDER: Comments and links which contain advertising and do not refer to any of the following; Postcard Friendship Friday, mailboxes, stamps, the Post office, postcards, or the love of postcards, will be deleted.
I'll say 'thank you for your service' to your dad in my prayer tonight.
ReplyDeleteI find it fascinating that there were postcards for just about every occasion.
ReplyDeleteI haven't visited in QUITE awhile, but it isn't a sign of anything wrong. I haven't posted in quite awhile myself. Too many plates in the air. I couldn't say anything about more about this than you've already said. We helped put flags out at the Veteran's Cemetery at Ft. Harrison. Chilly, but I had my own to think of. God Bless.
ReplyDeleteMay the Rest in Peace.
Hello Beth,
ReplyDeleteGlad to be back to join your Postcard exchange, and your memorial card of story about your dad really moved me, as a daddy's girl who lost too soon my eternal first love, I understand (I think...) what you might feel.
Best thoughts...
