I thought you would enjoy hearing about Flag Day from my perspective as a small girl. I so amazed when I saw all the flags flying everywhere on Flag Day. Somehow in my mind, I believed they flew because it was the day I was born. I was heart broken when I discovered the true reason for the flags. As I matured, I learned to love the holiday not only because it landed on my birthday, but because of my love for my Country--and our Flag.
I look back and smile at that little girl I was. The reason I'm posting a birthday postcard today? This is for all you Flag Day birthday kids across the world--HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Thank you for your indulgence, once again I will be posting Pink Saturday along with Postcard Friendship Friday together. For more wonderful Pink Stuff please visit Bev at Pink Saturday!
Loved your story! Happy Birthday. (Not unlike me ... who thought everyone had Memorial Day as a holiday because it was my birthday ... when it fell on May 31!!!)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteI was born on Thanksgiving and that's when my birthday was celebrated even though Thanksgiving isn't on the same date as my birthday very often.
Happy Birthday! My birthday is three days after Christmas. Can't say I thought the tree was just for me! Thankfully, I never got shorted on the gift end, and didn't have presents combined either.
ReplyDeleteA funny and beautiful memory. Happy birthday, Beth! We with you a day with thousands of flags.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Beth.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Beth! My son was born on Christmas morning (best present I ever received!) and it was always hard to have a birthday party for him when he was little.
ReplyDeleteA lovely story! And have a very happy birthday on the 14th.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post! Happy Birthday to you!
ReplyDeleteDear Beth:
ReplyDeleteI am rushed for time today, so I am going to link in my give away post. I will continue my series later.
Happy Birthday, sissie. I'd like to think, in my heart, that all of those flags really ARE flying in honor of the day the world was blessed with your presence!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to you.
ReplyDeleteBetter to share your birthday with a flag, than with another holiday, another family member (my son and my husband have the same birthday - my husband doesn't get as much attention on his bday anymore), or a bad occurrence (I have a friend with a 9/11 bday).
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day, and here's to waving your own flag, metaphorically speaking.
What a lovely vintage postcard and a great story to go along with it. Happy Birthday and Happy Pink Saturday!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post, thank you for sharing. Happy Pink Saturday! Esther XX
