This is another postcard from my "Cyber" collection. The idea of actually putting a piece of embroidery on a postcard is rather wonderful--though I don't know how a postcard like this would make it through today's postal stamping equipment.
I have heard these were popular in the early 1900's, many of them came out of France.
Christine has a lovely blog filled with fabulous postcards. You can find the original postcard at
Christine's Blog. Thank you for sharing your wonderful postcards with us, my dear!
This is definitely the first postcard with embroidery that I have seen and it is pretty. Like you I doubt it would go through our automated postal system.
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely, I some times wonder if modern technology is so terrific.
ReplyDeleteSeems like we have lost a lot of wonderful things like embroidered post cards, writing letters, talking to people on the phone. The personal touch.
this is a wonderful find. Where? pray tell did you find this.
ReplyDeleteThat is beautiful, Beth. Some of the quilters and people who do collages do make lovely postcards and send them through the mail. There are some gorgeous ones. Similar to the artist trading cards but postcard size. Carol
ReplyDeleteIt's so very pretty. I'm sure it wouldn't survive sorting offices today. I did have one, I suppose it's still around somewhere, that looked as though it had suffered in that way.
ReplyDeleteIt is quite pretty and I would be tempted to put it in a frame.
ReplyDeleteI knew that looked familiar. looks like the one I posted back on December 8, 2009 for my brother's birthday.
ReplyDeleteThank you Christine! I've put in a link to your blog. Thank you for sharing your magnificent collection with us!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely card, now a days, it would have to be inserted into an envelope and then it still might not arrive safely. Seems I have been so busy I haven't been visiting many blogs and I miss that. Have a great garage/yard sell.
ReplyDeleteWow. This is astounding! I don't think I've ever seen one like this before!!! I'm so glad you (and Christine) shared it with us!
ReplyDeleteSuch sweet and beautiful !!
