Long-Haired Beauty

I just love these old postcards! Isn't she beautiful?

When I was a little girl, every Sunday Grandma, Grampa, Uncle Dale, Dad, Mom and the rest of us kids would pile into the old car to drive to church. On our way there, I remember seeing a lovely older woman who would regularly walk through the field next to the road with her silver knee-length hair streaming out behind her. I was fascinated--she was so beautiful.

As a small girl, I made up my mind to grow my hair as long as hers, so that someday I could walk through a field in the early morning sunlight, with my glowing hair drifting into the breeze.

My hair is nearly to my waist and the shiny silver is coming in. (grin) Perhaps I'll make it yet!

  1. She is beautiful and I have to admit, I love postcards that are either painted or colored. It provided for a certain artistic license. Lovely!

  2. She certainly is a beautiful woman! I envy you being able to grow your hair out like that! I have never been able to grow my hair any longer than just below my shoulders because it is so thin.

  4. Beautiful babe...As an old hippie I used to have long hair but I got tired of my husband rolling over on it at night and slamming it in the car door...so I tend to keep it about shoulder length. More power to you growing it to your knees...you have nice thick hair so it will look great.

  5. My Grandmother use to have a basket sitting by the sofa with cards that had a photo on each end, and a pair of stereo viewers to insert the card into. Then we would hold them to our eyes and it made it look 3D. Shame someone in our family didn't keep a pair along with the cards, I'm sure they would cost a small fortune now. She also had an old record player, well actually they wre cyclinders, and the thing they played on had this long tube like thing sticking out from it, like the ads that use to show the little dog sitting and listening. Only problem was, most were opera singers and even as a kid I didn't care much for that, plus it wasn't even English words. LOL Probably the Great Caruso and I didn't even know it.

Long hair, no thanks, I was never one to have mine any longer then should length. But now that I am older, it's really, really short, but I like it, I'm not handy working with hair. I loved it when the curly perms were poplar, before that we called them a poodle ( in the early 50's) And I loved them to. LOL
