Amor - Guest Heart Thursday

I love this picture--but what I liked most, besides the fact she's hugging a heart--is that letter "C" which, of course, stands for Clytie.  (grin)  This one is for you, Sissy!  I have been so busy lately I haven't had a chance to be online much--I MISS YOU!

For those of you who do not know, Clytie is my younger sister and one of my greatest inspirations.

Lest We Forget - Postcard Friendship Friday #117

In every country from the beginning of  time there are legends of heros who defended home, hearth and country.

In America, this is the day we honor all brave Warriors who have gone on before.  Their lives made a difference in ours.

God bless everyone this Memorial Day Weekend.

Happy Anniversary - Postcard Friendship Friday #116

I apologize for getting PFF out so late.  You are so faithful!  We literally just came through the door-- as soon as our suitcases were in, I ran for the computer.

Normally I would have had the post ready beforehand, but I didn't know I wouldn't be here.  My husband and I came back from our trip a day later than we had planned.  On May 14th we celebrated our 29th anniversary!  We stayed at the beach in a wonderful house (for free) and the weather was phenomenal--so the temptation to stay a day more was more than we could resist!

Again, so sorry about this late post everyone--suffice it to say, it was so great to get another day away...there was no internet, no phones--just lots of sunshine, incredibly blue ocean waves and hot sand between my toes, not to mention kissing my Beloved!

I hope you have all had a great week--it has been a fabulous one for my darling and me.

Have a lovely weekend!

Sitting in Her Garden - Pink Saturday

Here is another wonderful piece of art by Alphonse Mucha, a French artist--one of those artists of old, who's work seems to have influenced an entire age of art--characterized as Art Deco, or Art Nouveau.  You can read more about this extraordinary man at The Artist, Alphonse Mucha.

Mother's Darling - Postcard Friendship Friday #115

This photograph reminds me of when my own sweet children were little.

If truth be known, I wanted to be a mother from the moment I understood what Mothers were all about.  I had the dream of raising twelve children and tending a rose garden.  Of course, as a tiny child I did not realize the tremendous work and responsibility required of a Mother.  Yet, even as I wax further in years, I still love children of every age.

There is something so precious about Mothers and their children.  There is something amazing about the pure love found in a Mother's heart.

I think of my own darling Mumsie.  She is getting up in years, yet her heart still overflows with love for her six children--of whom I am the eldest.  Happy Mother's Day, dear Mums.  I love you--thank you for everything.  YOU are an incredible Mom.

Happy Mother's Day everyone!

A Gift for Mother - Guest Heart Thursday

There's something about that boy's grin--one imagines the dog to be her Mother's Day gift.  The whole idea makes me giggle.  I can just imagine the ruckus the two of them will make in that dear Mom's life!

Happy Mother's Day and happy Guest Heart Thursday!

Happy Birthday, Sissy Boo

It is my darling Sister's birthday.  I am SO grateful to have Clytie in my life.  She has always been my hero, and in many ways, I am only a pale reflection.  She is a wonderful, amazing woman, who's talent and humor knows no bounds.

I am proud to call Clytie my sweet Sis.  Truly she is wise, loving and kind--with a heart which literally encompasses the entire world.  To wish Clytie a happy birthday, visit Sissy at Random Hearts.

Gracious Profusion - Pink Saturday

I found this wonderful Victorian advertisement online a few weeks ago.  What a beauty!  These roses look like the ones which grew in gracious profusion on the old tool shed near my Grandmother's home.  If I think about it, I can still sense the wonderful aroma wafting through the air on a hot summer's day.  Ah, memories.

The Bottom of the Matter - Postcard Friendship Friday #114

I laughed and laughed over this wonderfully politically incorrect postcard.  What I adore about this picture is the loving way this old Mom is holding that squirming young'un and the resolute look on her face which says however reluctant she might feel, what must be done, must be done.

I am grateful to my own precious Mum for her caring discipline of me when I was small.  She taught me right from wrong in no uncertain terms.  Now that I'm grown, with dear children of my own, I have a deep and abiding respect for my Mother.  She is one of my best Friends and I treasure her with all my heart.

It is a privilege to be her daughter.

Have a lovely day everyone!

Basket of Hearts - Guest Heart Thursday

I am one of those who believe we should celebrate Valentine's Day every day of the year.  And I especially enjoy the rich color and whimsical nature of many vintage Valentine's Day Cards.  This one is especially delightful.  I adore the idea of combining hearts with four leafed clovers.   I am also reasonably sure this cute little fellow would be more than happy to share his basket of hearts.
